Scott Carson made his debut for Manchester City, Ferran Torres bagged a hattrick, Eric Garcia started maybe his last game for Man City and Joao Cancelo rediscovered his old form from previously in the season as Ilkay Gundogan helped once more in filling the void with no Kevin De Bruyne. Newcastle United took the lead through Emil Krafth, Joao Cancelo equalised from a deflected effort, Ferran Torres scored a worldie to give Man City the lead before some controversy as Allan Saint-Maximin was deemed to be offside, which was overruled to be onside and Nathan Ake's challenge on Joelinton was deemed to be a penalty, even though Joelinton stands on Nathan Ake's foot, silly from Ake to be in that situation so close to half time and Joelinton put the ball past Scott Carson to make it 2-2 at half time. Newcastle took the lead from a daft challenge Kyle Walker and Joe Willock scored a rebound from his penalty being saved by Scott Carson. Ferran Torres equalised 2 minutes later after Gabriel Jesus finds Torres in space to tuck home with Joe Willock standing still... You are most vulnerable when you score. Then, Man City scored the final goal of the game 2 minutes later as Ferran Torres grabbed his hat-trick as Joao Cancelo's effort hit the inside of the post and Torres follows the rebound into the net. I thought he might have been offside but VAR never looked. I talk more about VAR, Premier League officiating and my thoughts on this meaningless yet entertaining 7 goal thriller and St James' Park.
