But there is one Michael Jordan item that has its own niche of uniqueness that is not well-known. 90s Sports Nostalgia Presents, Michael Jordan's Most Interesting Basketball Card Pop Quiz, what numbers did Michael Jordan wear during an NBA game. The obvious answers are #23 and #45, but interestingly, Jordan did sport the #12 for one game. Valentine's Day, 1990. Air Jordan and the Bulls were in Orlando to play the Magic, who were playing in their first NBA season as a franchise. Apparently as some point prior to the game, Jordan's iconic #23 red jersey, that was going to be worn during the game, was mysteriously stolen. A search ensued as stadium security questioned employees. Zero progress was made to recover the missing jersey as Bulls equipment personnel searched the crowd in an attempt to find a #23 jersey to fit Jordan's 6 foot 6 frame but no avail. As a result, perhaps the greatest NBA player of all time had to wear a Chicago Bulls backup jersey. That jersey had the number 12 but with no name on the back. This was Jordan's jersey for this Valentine's Game against the Orlando Magic and was the only time Jordan wore another number other than #23 or #45 during an NBA game. To this day, only the perpetrator or perpetrators know the events of what mysteriously transpired. Jordan did score 49 points but the Bulls lost to the Orlando Magic in overtime 135-129.
