Pirlo Leads Juventus Training For The First Time

Juventus trained with new head coach Andrea Pirlo for the first time at the club's Turin training ground on Monday. Former Italy international Pirlo has replaced Maurizio Sarri, who was sacked after the 'Old Lady' were knocked out of the Champions League by Lyon in the round of 16. Sarri did at least lead Juventus to last season's Italian A Serie title, so Cristiano Ronaldo and his team-mates will be aiming to win the club's tenth successive scudetto when the new campaign kicks off on 19th September. Pirlo turned out for Juventus and both Milan clubs - among others - during his playing days and helped Italy win the World Cup in 2006. A two-time European champion with AC Milan, Pirlo will begin his first Champions League campaign as head coach when the group stage of the 2020-21 competition gets underway in the week of 20th October.
