2020 MAC Football Week 4 Review Show: Leave him in, Lance!

CAN'T STOP PATTERSON In the nationally-televised MAC East showdown between Kent State and Buffalo, Jaret Patterson took off for over 400 rushing yards -- the very best single-game performance in Mid-American Conference history. The Bulls went on to stomp Kent State, and Western Michigan hung onto its perfect standing over in the West, too. Ball State Upsets Buffalo 38-28, Wins 2020 MAC Championship

BALL STATE: MAC CHAMPS! For the first time in 24 years, Ball State gets to claim itself as the Mid-American Conference's football champion of the year. The championship game itself, between the Cardinals and Buffalo Bulls, was an instant classic. Jaret Patterson, the MAC's MVP and face of the league, was silenced by the Cardinals' commitment to stop the rushing attack, and turned an early deficit into a two-score lead late in the second quarter, and the Bulls never got around to turning things around. We talk about the game, and only about the game, for 36-plus minutes, and reflect on the season that made this game possible. It wasn't too long ago when this felt like an impossible moment to look forward to. And we're thankful for that. CARDS CROWNED MAC WEST CHAMPS Ball State did it! The Cardinals were down two scores late, but stormed back to defeat Western Michigan in the MAC West-deciding game at Scheumann Stadium Saturday. This is the West title for Ball State since 2008 when the Brady Hoke-led Cardinals came into Ford Field with a No. 12 ranking in the BCS and AP polls, but lost to none other than Buffalo. That game had most of our attention (and rightfully so!), but: EMU held on at home to hand NIU its first winless season since 1997, Toledo edged out CMU with an ugly stalemate of a game, and the Bulls torched Akron as it should. 2020 MAC Football Week 5 Review Show: Akron snaps losing streak, Eagles play perfectly in Kalamazoo

BRONCOS NO LONGER UNBEATEN Eastern Michigan will not have an "Oh-fer" season in 2020 after Saturday's huge performance. The Eagles scored on (almost) every offensive drive, and had the best day possible at Western Michigan. WMU drops to 4-1 on the year with a road trip to Muncie coming up. Akron broke a 21-game losing streak with a big win over Bowling Green. Ball State took care of business against no-longer-defending MAC West champs CMU. Toledo and NIU had a hot first half, but the Rockets took care of business in the second half. Buffalo was on its way to take on Ohio, but then the bus got turned around when Ohio called to cancel the game because of Covid-19 positives/contact tracings. SECOND HALF UNDERWAY This is normally the time of year where we start REALLY looking into next year/bowl season, but 2020 is different. We still have an entire second-half of a season to look forward to in the Mid-American Conference. The first half of the year had games all on weeknights, but now we're switching over the weekend format, and Buffalo vs. Kent State might be the one MAC game (if any) to steer you away from all the other mainstream events. Thankfully, Allen Moff from the Record Courrier answered the phone to help preview the must-see MACtion. Also, which individual has had the best defensive season in the MAC so far? 2020 MAC Football Week 3 Review Show: MAC stars emerge; surprises continue

THREE REMAIN UNDEFEATED Western Michigan, Buffalo, and Kent State all hold the best-possible records in the Mid-American Conference with 3-0 records to their names, and they're all fantastic in their own different ways. If you're looking for future NFL prospects, all of these teams have stars that can rise to the occasion (D'Wayne Eskridge, Jaret Patterson, Dustin Crum, etc.). WMU's rivalry win over CMU gives Tim Lester a 3-1 career coaching record against his rival school. Bulls run all over Doyt-Perry Stadium, and Kent State had three ~100-yard rushers run Akron out of town and back down the street. MAC Football 2020: Western Michigan 52, Central Michigan 44

WESTERN DEFENDS VICTORY CANNON In Wednesday's Battle for the Victory Cannon on the four-letter network, Western Michigan's 38-point run (you read that right!) was almost too much of a hole for Central Michigan to climb out of. The defending West champs CMU made it an 8-point game in the end, but WMU's offense made enough huge plays thanks to Jaylen Hall and D'Wayne Eskridge at wide receiver. The Broncos are now 3-0 and in the driver's seat to win its division, and make it to Detroit for the first time since 2016. FOLLOW US ON THE INTERNET!
