(video posted for educational purposes) @banzai_karate ☝🏻there are rules, but there are no compromises© 🥋@coach_rakhanskiy 🥋@zheka_figwam 📍Minsk, Belarus 🇧🇾 vk.com/banzai_team Everyone who met the necessary requirements and got the right to try to improve their skills in the final exam was certified for KYU. If we talk about the exam itself, then we in our club abandoned its traditional form, where children mechanically repeat combinations of movements through the air specially learned for it. Competitive activity and sports results are a priority for us, and we do nothing but kumite (duel). In this regard, we invite representatives of other clubs to sparring or tournaments and often hear in response: "We would love to, but now we are preparing for belts." This magic phrase, apparently, should explain everything, but still it is not clear how one interferes with the other? Or does everyone suddenly stop doing karate for the duration of the training? 🤔Everything that an athlete does during the year should bring him closer to the goal, and not vice versa, and if he is not able to take part in the competition or just compete in a friendly match due to the "preparation for the belts", then you should think about the appropriateness of such certification : what does it certify, in fact, for a person engaged in martial arts, and find a more effective and objective way to assess the level of the subject! We will not raise the topics "Karate is more than a sport" and "Not all children are champions" - let's leave it to expert theorists or people involved "for themselves", but on our own behalf we will add that a sports result is the most tangible, something that can feel and see with your own eyes, and any child involved in sports should strive to become a champion no matter what - this is the essence of sports! It is clear that as an alternative to successful sports activities, the way to realize oneself in karate, improving technically and passing the exam for the next student or master's degree, has the right to exist, and even more: it makes karate unique, making it more accessible and mass, but the reverse the side of this is people who are fixated only on this and, as a result, are absolutely not wealthy in battle And yet, the vast majority of coaches stubbornly follow frankly outdated dogmas, neglecting the real experience of modern specialists, backed up by the concrete results of their wards at the highest competitive level, killing children's interest in karate in the bud and continue to breed zombies mindlessly going back and forth and mercilessly destroying the air in front of them! For us, karate is a duel: sports and in general, therefore, we consider the existing traditional forms of certification for belts to be archaic - modern karate is rapidly developing (for the better or not - again, many orthodox people will say a moot point) and, accordingly, the methods of certification should also be relevant and be something more than just a motivation to get another "bun" for a child or a window dressing for parents! Of course, this should be part of the preparation for more stressful situations, like competitions, and not stick out as an unnecessary rudiment! Any significant achievement is achieved by serious work, and the exam for the next belt should not be a mere formality - everything that is easy is given and not particularly appreciated. It is clear that everything depends on the goals and objectives that the club sets for itself, and people united in it by common interests - this is just our opinion and our path. Therefore, the PROGRAM developed for intra-club attestation allows a comprehensive assessment in many respects, first of all, of an athlete-kumitist: the level of technical training, tactical thinking, the ability to make non-standard decisions and manage the available arsenal of techniques, variability, and so on - this is a really serious test, which is preceded by monthly training camp with daily workouts! C Forgive my superficial judgment profound connoisseurs of the spirituality and traditions of this ancient martial art There are rules, but no compromises! Karate everyone and see you on the tatami!
