Kenya to take on Rwanda in CECAFA cup opener at Bukhungu

After several weeks of anticipation and planning, the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup is finally upon us, with two matches lined up this afternoon after the opening ceremony. Hosts Kenya face 2015 finalists Rwanda at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, in the first of the 20 matches lined up. Harambee Stars trained at the match venue yesterday, and head coach Paul Put has warned of the danger the Amavubi Stars pose on his side. Rwanda edged out Kenya 5-3 on penalties at the 2015 edition in Ethiopia. The second group A match of the day from 4pm will feature guest side Libya against Tanzania at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Gate charges for the games are 500 shillings for VIP and 100 shillings for the terraces. Uganda, who are in group B, are the defending champions as well as the most successful side with 14 titles.
