The Houston Cougars men's basketball team routed the Rice Owls 79-46 Friday night inside Fertitta Center. Houston Head Coach Kelvin Sampson, Kyler Edwards and J'Wan Roberts spoke with the media after the win. Coach Sampson touches on differences in Houston's performance versus the Owls compared to Houston's performance Tuesday in the season opener against Hofstra. Coach Sampson also gives injury updates on Ramon Walker, Robbie Armbrester, and Tramon Mark. Kyler Edwards scored 18 points (7/14 fgs) and added 6 rebounds plus 3 assists. J'Wan Roberts pulled down 9 rebounds in 18 minutes. Houston guard Marcus Sasser scored a game-high 26 points (8/16 fgs) and added 5 boards and 3 assists in 28 minutes. Sasser outscored Rice in the first half 16-15. Houston led 44-15 at halftime.
