I will talk about why the Big 12 should even consider such a move. I will also discuss what the format of the playoff would be and how it could be implemented. I will also give you my opinion on the topic. In August 2021 it was announced that the Texas Longhorns & Oklahoma Sooners would be leaving the Big 12 conference and joining the SEC. With the two biggest programs leaving the conference, many thought this would be the death of the Big 12. However, Commissioner Bob Bowlsby and others worked to bring in four new schools; UCF, Houston, BYU and Cincinnati, to stabilize the league. However, by adding four non-power 5 teams to the conference, many fear this will cause a huge drop in TV revenue for the league and its members and could eventually lead to the Big 12 losing its status as a power 5 conference. In this video I will talk about the need for the Big 12 to think outside the box and look at various ways to be an attractive brand for college football fans. Is this playoff idea a way to do that?
