Marconi Stallions claimed their first piece of silverware since the 1995/96 NSL season with a dramatic penalty-shootout victory over Spirit FC. Both sides fought tooth and nail throughout 120' minutes of goalless football, as the penalty-shootout was required to assign the 2010 McDonald's Cup trophy. The gallant Super League side overturned a rather nervy first-half to match their more fancied opponent until the very end. However, Stallions goalkeeper Jose Bello Amigo proved to be the difference, saving two Spirit FC penalties for the Stallions, as Christopher Nunes drove the winner into the top left-hand corner to seal the deal for the Bossley Park outfit.
