New Zealand reclaimed their place as the number 1 ranked team in world rugby with a convincing victory over Wales at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Now, the All Blacks often seem like they’re playing off the cuff and throwing the ball around for fun, but Do They Play Structured Rugby? Or is it just Play What You See? In this Rugby Analysis I look in detail at two very different tries. One by TJ Perenara after 6 phases, and one by Will Jordan after 4 changes of possession and finished by the most delightful chip and chase. I cover the All Blacks use of 1322 and how their phase play maps help them make effective decisions. World Player of The Year Antoine Dupont continues to prove just how special he is. But is this his best try ever? At first glance it's easy to think that this is just another try, but for me its so much more. It's the culmination of years of hard work to perfect very specific aspects of his game. France look mightily strong right now and they were deserved winners in their Six Nations match against Ireland in Paris. Being able to dictate what defenders do around the ruck area is a huge part of what makes this French side tick and the Dupont inside line is the cherry on top! My French isn't great I'm afraid but one day I'd love to be able to do a video in the French language! ►Support my content on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/GDDCoaching ►SUBSCRIBE for new video notifications: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeraintDaviesGDD ►Twitter https://twitter.com/daviesGDD ►YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeraintDaviesGDD The video match footage is not in any way owned by myself - credit goes to the Six Nations. Reigning Six Nations Champions Wales fell to a heavy defeat in Dublin to the hands of an Irish team full of confidence and quality. This rugby analysis drills down into some of the details behind Ireland's attack in an attempt to provide you with enough information to decide whether Ireland's attack is good enough to win the 6 Nations 2022! The experiment of Josh Adams at 13 doesn't appear to have worked as well as hoped! But Mack Hansen and Andrew Conway were both outstanding for Ireland. Sexton continues to pull the strings and it's hard to see an Irish backline without him! ►Support my content on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/GDDCoaching ►SUBSCRIBE for new video notifications: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeraintDaviesGDD ►Twitter https://twitter.com/daviesGDD ►YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeraintDaviesGDD The video match footage is not in any way owned by myself - credit goes to the Six Nations Rugby. South Africa’s game plan is heavily defence dominated, but right at the heart of that defence is the way they approach the tackle area. The Jackal is the jewel in the South African defensive crown and provides them with the platform to play their game! But, what’s the secret to the South African Jackal? Well, there’s more to it than meets the eye and in this analysis I provide some insight into the many aspects of play that revolve around the jackal. To do this the Autumn Nations Series matches against Wales and Scotland are drawn upon. Players like Siya Kolisi, Damien De Allende, Lukhanyo Am, Kwagga Smith, and Steven Kitsoff provide a number of excellent examples of how do it! ►Support my content on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/GDDCoaching ►SUBSCRIBE for new video notifications: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeraintDaviesGDD ►Twitter https://twitter.com/daviesGDD ►YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeraintDaviesGDD The video match footage is not in any way owned by myself - credit goes to the Autumn Nations Cup. Siya Kolisi has got to be one of the best tacklers in the world right now! Some people might say that this isn't 'text book', but the world cup winning captain writes his own text book in this area! In this YouTube Short I cover some of the key principles behind one of his many awesome tackles against Wales in the Autumn Nations Cup! The 2021 British and Irish Lions Tour to South Africa has been filled with intrigue and drama and the 1st Test was no exception! So, how did the Lions beat the Springboks? In this Rugby Analysis video @TheDeadBallArea and I break down the details from the 1st Test looking at the Attack, Defence, and Kicking Game for both teams. The Lions came out on top by 22-17 and will feel confident after a convincing 2nd half performance. But South Africa are far from out of it and will be looking for revenge this weekend! Rassie Erasmus has had plenty to say and his yellow circles have become the source of quite some discussion! Warren Gatland is no stranger to drama but I'm not sure he's seen anything like this! ►Support my content on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/GDDCoaching ►SUBSCRIBE for new video notifications: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeraintDaviesGDD ►Twitter https://twitter.com/daviesGDD ►YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeraintDaviesGDD The video match footage is not in any way owned by myself - credit goes to the British & Irish Lions. I've posted a plain version of this clip from Stormers v British and Irish Lions to give you the opportunity of your own Rugby Analysis! In this video I've provided a detailed breakdown of the technical and tactical aspects of the tackle! The nature of rugby union means that the environment is often highly variable. In that case tackles exist in a dynamic environment where players have to constantly adapt their process to achieve the outcome of stopping an opponent from progressing. In this video I've picked out some technical and tactical details that help Stormers tight head, Fouche, make an excellent tackle of Beirne. Some of the key points are: - Chest up high until the bite zone is reached (the point at which the tackle is the final option). - Plant feet so that knees are bent, allowing for a hip tilt and contact with the shoulder followed by a chase of the feet with studs in the ground until tackle completion. - Arms in tight and punch/slingshot them through the tackle immediately upon making shoulder contact. - Aim for the hip crease and if required step around the tackle to unbalance the ball carrier further. - Use each arm to grab a separate lever. ►Support my content on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/GDDCoaching ►SUBSCRIBE for new video notifications: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeraintDaviesGDD ►Twitter https://twitter.com/daviesGDD ►YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeraintDaviesGDD The video match footage is not in any way owned by myself - credit goes to the British and Irish Lions. I've created this clip without any analysis from myself to enable you and others to have a go at analysing it yourself! If you'd like to leave your comments down below, I'd be happy to get back to you with my thoughts! Analysis Task: - Watch the clip and pick out some key points relating to the tackle - Also consider what other factors outside of the tackle itself that helped the tackler - Post tackle, what do you notice? - Then what do you notice from the next Stormers carry? - Finally, why did the Stormers kick to the left touchline? What did they see? How come there was so much space there? ►Support my content on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/GDDCoaching ►SUBSCRIBE for new video notifications: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeraintDaviesGDD ►Twitter https://twitter.com/daviesGDD ►YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeraintDaviesGDD
