Despite generating just three hits against Arizona starter Merrill Kelly, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza felt his team had pitches to hit but didn't take advantage of it in their 2-1 loss to the Diamondbacks. Mendoza thought starter Clay Holmes pitched in tough luck with his only mistake was allowing a two-run single in the third inning. Holmes was disappointed he did not finish the sixth inning but felt he gave the team a chance to win.
