Channel of Kool Shorts on Youtube Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving participated in a 3-point contest against actor Michael B. Jordan on Saturday at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi and lost by the slightest of margins after three rounds. Irving, 31, did not play in the Mavericks' second preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, both losses in Abu Dhabi. He did take the court for the first contest, though, but only scored two points in 14 minutes of action. Jordan, 36, and several other stars showed up to both games. He called out Irving during the second match and the Mavs star did not flinch. Irving stood up instantly despite wearing street clothes and took on the "Creed" actor. Both competitors made their shots in the first two rounds, but Jordan hit one more in the third. The NBA veteran took the loss in stride, lifting Jordan's hand up in the air as a referee would for a winning boxer. Kyrie Irving, Luka Doncic connection Luka Doncic was available for both games and was the Mavs' leading scorer the first time, trailing teammate Jaden Hardy in Saturday's game. Doncic, 24, and Irving never seemed to connect last year when the latter was traded to Dallas midseason. Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd started both stars in the first preseason game, but they were rarely on the floor at the same time. It seems as if Kidd's strategy heading into the 2023-24 NBA season is to stagger his two stars' minutes, giving each of the ball-dominant players their own time to shine. Michael Bakari Jordan is an American actor best known for his film roles as Oscar Grant in the drama Fruitvale Station (2013), boxer Adonis Creed in Creed (2015), and Erik Killmonger in Black Panther (2018), all of which were written and directed by Ryan Coogler. Jordan reprised his role of Creed in Creed II (2018) and Creed III (2023); the latter also marked his directorial debut. Jordan was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine in 2020 and 2023. Also in 2020, he was named People's Sexiest Man Alive, and The New York Times ranked him 15th on its list of the 25 greatest actors of the 21st century. Jordan is also a co-owner of English Premier League football club AFC Bournemouth. #michaelbjordan #kyrieirving #nba

The Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets had trade discussions centered around swapping Russell Westbrook for John Wall, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, with the deal stalling after the Rockets wanted further compensation. The Lakers also had traction on a three-team deal with the Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks that would have involved trading guard Talen Horton-Tucker, but fell apart because of draft picks that would have needed to be included, sources told ESPN. Chris Paul was considered damaged goods when he was dealt from Houston to Oklahoma City. All the Point God did with the Thunder was up his value and turn himself into a wanted commodity. Enter Phoenix. They picked up Paul for Kelly Oubre Jr., Ricky Rubio, Jalen Lecque, Ty Jerome and a protected 2022 first-round pick. It worked out pretty well for Phoenix, as Paul led the Suns to the NBA Finals in his first year in the Valley. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/33232253/nba-power-rankings-week-17-every-team-most-impactful-trade-five-seasons https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/33057503/2022-nba-trade-deadline-latest-buzz-news-reports #nba #sports #basketball
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 28-24 victory over the New York Jets wasn't without drama Sunday. Bucs receiver Antonio Brown seems to have retired mid-game, as he was seen on the sideline taking off his jersey and walking away from the team. Video from CBS showed that Brown appeared to be upset on the sideline and inexplicably started to remove his jersey and pads while teammates pleaded with him to stay. A shirtless Brown could be seen throwing his undershirt into the stands as he made his way into the stadium's tunnel while waving a peace sign. "He is no longer a Buc, alright? That's the end of the story," head coach Bruce Arians said in a postgame interview. Bucs quarterback Tom Brady told reporters after the game the incident was "obviously a difficult situation." "We all love him and care about him deeply," Brady said, adding their relationship goes beyond being teammates. "I think everyone should be compassionate and empathetic toward some very difficult things that are happening." Brady said he was unaware of the details of the incident until after the game. After the game, Brown tweeted a photo of himself with the cryptic caption "Super Gremlin." The incident comes weeks after Brown said he was suspended in December for three games without pay following a league investigation that determined he violated protocols. The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Brown in 2010, and he played for them the first nine seasons of his career. Brown was traded to the then-Oakland Raiders ahead of the 2019 season but was released before playing in a regular season game. Brown then signed with the New England Patriots and played one game before being released again, days after one of his former offseason athletic trainers filed a lawsuit accusing him of rape and assault in 2017 and 2018. Brown denied the allegations and said he would fight to clear his name. The NFL said at the time there was an ongoing investigation into Brown's conduct. Brown signed a one-year deal with the Buccaneers in October 2020. https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/02/us/antonio-brown-tampa-bay-buccaneers-jersey/index.html https://www.foxnews.com/sports/brooks-koepka-bold-antonio-brown-prediction https://www.foxnews.com/sports/bucs-antonio-brown-undresses-storms-off-field-jets #antoniobrown #tampabaybuccaneers #trending
