In a road rematch of Las Vegas Lights FC's first home victory of the 2018 USL season, the club traveled east to face perennial USL Western Conference power Swope Park Rangers on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kan. Swope Park struck first in the 12th minute, before Lights FC equalized in the 21st minute on a strike by Daigo Kobayashi, for his third goal of the season. Things got really interesting late, after Swope Park had mounted a 3-1 second half lead. After a Sammy Ochoa goal in the 87th minute made it 3-2, Lights FC drew a penalty in the 18-yard box in the final minute of stoppage time, setting up a potentially game-tying penalty kick. Using a bit of trickery, Ochoa was set up for a blast on the right side, but it struck the post and bounced out, sending Lights FC home empty-handed. The club is back at it next Saturday, June 30, at 5:30 p.m. on the road at Tulsa Roughnecks FC.
