Newcastle United 3 Brentford 3 Match Reaction. The Premier League returned to St. James' Park today as Newcastle United welcomed Brentford in a game where the toon were looking for their first win of the season. Unfortunately Eddie Howe tested positive for Covid so couldn't be at the ground but it was his team and his tactics that we were very interested in seeing and the change of mentality from the Bruce era. Certainly a lot of positives from the game but there are still a lot of issues with this team, issues that have been around for a very long time. It was nice to see us playing an attacking style of football but again, it was defensively that we were shocking again. Karl Darlow at fault for two if not all three goals, centre backs that just don't seem to be able to defend and a right back in Jacob Murphy who was caught out quite a few times.
