Brentford went to Cardiff on the back of a nine match unbeaten run. But they let in a sloppy goal within the first ten minutes and, despite playing the better football, Cardiff ran out winners by two goals. Brentford's lack of fire power in front of goal was epitimised by Maupay's glaring open goal miss from 7 yards out.
