They are still in damage control after they were blamed for Kevin Durant's achilles injury after allowing him to play Game 5 of the NBA Finals in 2019 against the Raptors. They do not want another MVP's bad health to be blamed on them again. Curry will return to a team with the worst record in the league and going nowhere except high in the draft lottery. The Warriors draft pick will be high regardless of whether they win a few extra games down the stretch or not. Last season the Pelicans had just a 7% chance of the number 1 pick and they landed Zion Williamson. That invalid fear is just one reason getting Steph on the court should be paramount to Golden State.
