Organised by the English Football League (EFL), it is open to any club within the top four levels of the English football league system β 92 clubs in total β comprising the top level Premier League, and the three divisions of the English Football League's own league competition (Championship, League One and League Two). First held in 1960β61 as the Football League Cup, it is one of the three top-tier domestic football competitions in England, alongside the Premier League and FA Cup. It concludes in February, long before the other two, which end in May. It was introduced by the league as a response to the increasing popularity of European football, and to also exert power over the FA. It also took advantage of the roll-out of floodlights, allowing the fixtures to be played as midweek evening games. With the renaming of the Football League as the English Football League in 2016, the tournament was rebranded as the EFL Cup from the 2016β17 season onwards. The tournament is played over seven rounds, with single-leg ties throughout, except for the semi-finals. The final is held at Wembley Stadium which is the only tie in the competition played at a neutral venue and on a weekend (Sunday). The first two rounds are split into North and South sections, and a system of byes based on league level ensures higher ranked teams enter in later rounds, and to defer the entry of teams still involved in Europe. Winners receive the EFL Cup,[1] of which there have been three designs, the current one also being the original. Winners also qualify for European football; up to the 2019β20 season, the winners received a place in the UEFA Europa League (formerly the UEFA Cup, while from 1966β67 until 1971β72 the winners gained a place in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup), while starting in 2020β21, the winners get a place in the UEFA Europa Conference League. Should the winner also qualify for Europe through other means at the end of the season, this place is transferred to the highest-placed Premier League team not already qualified for European competition. The current holders are Manchester City, who beat Tottenham Hotspur 1β0 in the 2021 final to win their fourth consecutive League Cup and eighth overall. ββ βοΈ Subscribe, Like & Comment for More! βοΈ

He previously played in MLB for the Houston Astros, Miami Marlins and Los Angeles Dodgers. His nickname is Kike (/ΛkiΛkeΙͺ/ KEE-kay), sometimes spelled KikΓ© during English-language television broadcasts to prevent it from being confused with an anti-Semitic slur that has a different pronunciation. He has played every position except catcher in the major leagues, though he has spent the most time in the outfield and second base. The Astros drafted HernΓ‘ndez in the sixth round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft, and he was called up to the majors for the first time in 2014. ββ βοΈ Subscribe, Like & Comment for More! βοΈ

The league is contested by 24 clubs. Each season, the two top-finishing teams in the Championship are automatically promoted to the Premier League. The teams that finish the season in 3rd to 6th place enter a playoff tournament, with the winner also gaining promotion to the Premier League. The three lowest-finishing teams in the Championship are relegated to League One. The Championship, which was introduced for the 2004β05 season, was previously known as the Football League First Division (1992β2004), and before that as the Football League Second Division (1892β1992). The winners of the Championship receive the EFL Championship trophy, the same trophy as the old First Division champions were handed before the Premier League's inception in 1992. Similar to other divisions of professional English football, Welsh clubs can be part of the division, making it a cross-border league. The Championship is the wealthiest non-top flight football division in the world and the ninth richest division in Europe. With an average match attendance for the 2018β19 season of 20,181, the Championship had the highest per-match attendance of any secondary league in the world, with only nine top-flight leagues known to have higher attendance figures. Barnsley have spent more seasons at the second level of English football than any other team and on 3 January 2011 became the first club to achieve 1,000 wins in the second level of English football with a 2β1 home victory over Coventry City. Barnsley are also the first club to play 3,000 games in second-level league football (W1028, D747, L1224). Currently, Nottingham Forest and Derby County hold the longest tenure in the Championship, last being out of the division in the 2007β08 season ββ βοΈ Subscribe, Like & Comment for More! βοΈ #championship #birmingham #fulham
