Despite only getting promoted from league 2 in 2019/20, they’ve certainly hit the mark in league one this season, at one point going on a 16 game unbeaten run taking them to the top of the league. Since that defeat to Charlton in November however it’s been rocky for them, falling to 3 defeats in a row, then losing their manager and then going on to lose to promotion rivals Sunderland. However, with just shy of 3,000 Argyle fans making the trip today they’re obviously still in high spirits and fancy their chances against a poor Birmingham side. Now for Birmingham, they have a former player and league one promotion winner Lee Bowyer in charge and let’s just say he’s not had the finest season. Birmingham sits 18th in the championship at the minute, but in all fairness haven’t shown any signs of progress in years. The club feels like it’s a very toxic place to be at the minute, big parts of the stadium being closed because they’re falling apart, no connection from owner to fans, and it feels like they’re in a relegation scrap every year. Despite all that, though you’ll struggle to find a more committed fan base than Birmingham, they’ll still sell out the majority of away days and you can always rely on St. Andrews being pretty full if they’re at home.
