AFC Leopards 2 - 1 Homeboyz - Kenyan Premier League 2013

AFC Leopards 2 - 1 Homeboyz Homeboyz knowing too well what was expected of them gave a fight with Dennis Mukaisi leading the hunt for goals upfront. Mukaisi had a chance in the 9 minute but his shot went wide. Homeboyz's danger man Andrew Kulecho came close with 17 minutes gone on the clock but his rasping shot was parried away by keeper Martin Musalia. Daniel Waweru also came close for the home side with a 25th minute header that was well saved by Martin Musalia. Homeboyz increased the pressure in the second half, with full knowledge that a loss would spell doom for them. Allan Otindo came close with 62 minutes gone after his touch from Wellington Murwayi's cross but Martin Musalia was at hand to save once again. But that miss would haunt them on the opposite end as Allan Wanga made it two on 65 minutes scoring his 11th goal of the season. But Tony Ssentongo pulled some slight hopes with only four minutes on the pitch, scoring after coming on for Daniel Waweru. However, it was a little bit too late as their pressure never yielded in the final minutes. Sony Sugar ensured they remain safe in the premier league, Moses Arita's brace hoising them above relegation fears. Arita's first goal came on 8 minutes to calm Sony's nerves before completing the job in the second period. At Bukhungu Stadium, Western Stima lost their first game of the season at their backyard, going down 1-0 to former champions Tusker. Sofapaka failed to challenge for second spot, Mustafa Kasolo scoring late to hand them a 2-1 win over Mathare United. The win settles Sofapaka at third place with Leopards above them on a better goal difference. City Stars also ensured safety with a point away to Chemelil Sugar, with the draw lifting them to 33 points. Thika United moved a point above Ulinzi Stars who drew 0-0 against Gor Mahia in Nakuru after beating Muhoroni Youth 1-0 at Thika Municipal Stadium. David King'atua struck the lone goal in 62nd minute to give coach John Kamau a much needed win. The Top 8 finish is now completed as; Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Sofapaka, KCB, Tusker, Bandari, Thika United and Ulinzi Stars.
