She has registered scores of 33, 119*, 67, 68*, 66, 92*, 13, 47* and 50 since the recently concluded India series and is chipping with the ball in hand as well during the middle phase of the inning. Lea Tahuhu has become a force to be reckoned with as she has picked 18 wickets in the last one year, the most for New Zealand in ODIs! She has carried that form in this edition of the World cup as well and stands joint second in the highest wicket taker's chart with six scalps. Australia at the other hand is known to be the greatest team as far as the WODI format is concerned and comes to the tournament on the back of an emphatic Ashes win, the multi-format series against arch rivals and current World champions, England. They went down against New Zealand in the warm-ups but started their campaign strongly with two big wins against England and Pakistan. Their performance has been boosted by the inclusion of young leggie Alana King, who has picked up five wickets from the couple of matches and has been posing a threat to all kinds of batters around the World! Rachel Haynes, skipper Meg Lanning and wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy have been performing extremely well with the bat and are the top batters for the team with Healy doubling that up with excellent display from behind the stumps.

What a terrible start it was for The White Ferns in the first match of this tournament. Playing in their backyard, and high on their confidence, New Zealand women came up short against the underdogs West Indies Women. With 6 runs needed in the last over, New Zealand imploded. They lost their remaining 3 wickets and handed West Indies the victory on a silver platter. However, their skipper Sophie Devine was the silver lining of the show. scoring a century to take the game deep and keep them in the game. Then came the Jess Kerr onslaught, her explosive innings brought New Zealand to the brink of victory only to falter at the last stage. Wounds would not have been healed yet, but they will be looking to bounce back in style today. Bangladesh Women are also coming off an equally disappointing loss in their first match of the tournament. After restricting South Africa to a modest total of 207 in the first innings, Bangladesh had every chance to chase this target down. However, after an impressive opening partnership, things took a turn for the worst. Their run rate throughout the chase was enough to force them to go hard in the slog overs in an effort to win, but after playing 49.3 overs, Bangladesh was bundled out for 175 runs. That defeat would have left a sour taste in their mouth. Today, both the teams have a chance to avoid an hiccup turn into a streak!
