Bobby Witt Jr., Batting .800 Since The All-Star Break, Nearly Completes A Cycle, But Hit By Pitcher

Bobby Witt Jr. is coming out of the all-star break swinging. The Kansas City Royals shortstop is 12-for-15 batting .800 since appearing in his first All-Star Game and finishing second in the Home Run Derby, with two homers, two doubles, one triple, six RBI and zero strikeouts. If that sounds like a cycle somewhere in there, it nearly happened July 22, when Witt took the plate in the sixth only in need of a single, but was hit by Arizona Diamondbacks reliever Humberto Castellanos.  The Royals won that game 10-4 to give them four straight victories. Witt, who had just been named American League Player of the Week, tripled in the first inning, doubled in the third and hit a three-run home-run in the fourth, marking his fourth consecutive three-hit game His season batting average is now .341.
