#Barcelona #Athletic #LaLiga #Messi #Pedri #Dembelle Do not forget to subscribe Lionel Messi scored twice as Barcelona ruined Marcelino's first match in charge of Athletic Bilbao with a hard-fought 3-2 triumph at San Mames. Inaki Williams made an instant impression on Athletic's new boss - appointed following the dismissal of Gaizka Garitano - by scoring inside three minutes for the home team on Wednesday. Capitalising on a ridiculously high defensive line, the forward ran clear from inside his own half and, after cutting back inside a half-hearted challenge from Clement Lenglet, fired low past Marc-Andre ter Stegen to break the deadlock. However, with Messi leading the way, Barca recovered from the setback to turn the game around by the interval, albeit with some help from the hosts. Unai Simon was tempted out to deal with Messi's seemingly over-hit cross for the equaliser, the alert Frenkie de Jong stretching out to volley the ball back into the middle for Pedri to nod into an unguarded net. The Athletic goalkeeper was caught again when his side conceded seven minutes before the break, Pedri the provider as his clever back-heeled assist set up the supporting Messi to pass the ball in, Simon - who had initially rushed out expecting the teenager to shoot - stranded out of position. Athletic briefly threatened a recovery of their own early in the second half, yet it was always their opponents who carried the far greater threat in attack. Having seen a goal ruled out for offside and a long-range shot denied by a post, Messi finally scored again when sweeping Antoine Griezmann's square pass home via the underside of the crossbar. There was late drama when a turnover in possession allowed Alex Berenguer to tee up Iker Muniain for a first-time finish that cut the gap in the 90th minute, but Barca held firm to claim all three points.

Huesca Vs Barcelona Match Reaction | New year, Same Barca

#Barcelona #LaLiga #Huesca Do not forget to subscribe Barcelona kicked off 2021 with a win on the road against bottom of the table Huesca to move into the top five in La Liga and make it six games without a loss. The Blaugrana played a good first half and just cruised in the second, and picked up all three points away from home which is good news this season. FIRST HALF Barça dominated the game from start to finish, keeping possession deep in Huesca territory and constantly moving the ball from side to side to find spaces, and thanks to a marvelous performance from Pedri the Blaugrana always managed to create good chances. They didn’t exactly fire one shot on target after throughout the half, but they could have scored at least three times based on the quality of their opportunities. Barça could only score once, but it was a great goal: Lionel Messi played a beautiful cross into the box, and Frenkie De Jong made a perfect run from midfield and met the cross with a perfect first time finish to give Barça the lead. Huesca played like a bottom of the table side and simply couldn’t not trouble Barça in any way, and the Blaugrana defense was alert to kill any promising attacks from the home team and did a great job of getting the ball back high up the pitch to continue on the offensive. At halftime Barça were in full control but had just the one-goal lead, and needed to keep up the pace to kill the game in the second half. SECOND HALF The second half went pretty much the same as the first, but without the chances. Barça had possession and tried to create but lacked the poise and imagination in the final third, and the best chance came in a one-two between Messi and Pedri that ended with the captain’s shot being saved by Álvaro. Huesca tried going forward looking for an equalizer and stayed alive thanks to Barça’s inability to score, but the hosts couldn’t truly trouble Marc-André ter Stegen and the final whistle came to end quite a boring final period and award Barça all three points.

Barcelona vs Eibar 1-1 - Dembelle Saved Us! My Reaction

#Barcelona #Eibar #Laliga #Messi #Griezmann #Pedri #Araujo #Braithwaite Barcelona vs Eibar: how it happened Barça 1-1 Eibar: match report Barcelona suffered in the absence of the injured Lionel Messi as they drew 1-1 at home to struggling Eibar in LaLiga on Tuesday after Martin Braithwaite missed a penalty for the Catalans. Eibar, who went into the game sitting one place above the relegation zone, took a shock lead in the 57th minute through striker Kike Garcia before Barca substitute Ousmane Dembélé levelled for 10 minutes later. Messi had returned to Barcelona from Argentina earlier on Tuesday but watched from the stands as he is still recovering from an ankle problem and, while his side played well without him, they lacked the cutting edge he so often provides. Braithwaite missed the target from the spot in the first half then had a goal correctly ruled offside by VAR while the Dane also missed a chance to grab the winner from point-blank range when the ball bounced off his chest on the rebound and squirmed wide. (Richard Martin reporting) An important point won for Eibar, which moves them up to 14th for the time being. Their goalscorer Kike García after the final whistle "How could you not miss Messi? He's the best player of all time! "He always scores a hat-trick against us so clearly they wouldn't be as good without him."
