A Mark Melancon 9th inning meltdown ruined an otherwise winnable game. Merrill Kelly got lit up early but settled down to hold Miami to 3 runs in 5 innings. Caleb Smith pitched 3 scoreless innings to give the team a chance. Home runs by Alek Thomas (first career) and Jordan Luplow (4th) would allow the Dbacks to tie the game at 3-3 in the 8th.
