"Learning from Asian Games 2018 - Singapore’s Sport Science Support at Asian Games 2018" at the Singapore Sport Science Symposium 2018, 8 November 2018 Panel Discussion Presenters: Dr Marcus Lee, Team Lead, Sport Biomechanics, SSI Mr Danny Lum, Team Lead, Strength & Conditioning, SSI Mr Joel Pang, Associate Sport Physiologist. SSI Featuring: Ms Bernice Lim, Team Singapore Bowler Mr Brandon Ooi, Team Singapore Kayaker Mr Ryan Lo, Team Singapore Sailor The 18th Asian Games was held in Jakarta and Palembang from 18 August to 2 September 2018. This is the largest sporting event in Asia with 45 nations participating in 465 events over 40 sports. Six world, 18 Asian and 86 Asian Games records were broken at this Asian Games, demonstrating the progress athletes have made in their field of sports. Singapore, being the host of this Symposium will lead the sharing with an interactive session between Sport Scientists and Athletes who participated in this edition of the Asian Games. Japan, second in the medal tally at the Asian Games will also share on their preparation leading to the successful outing in Indonesia. Hong Kong, with 8 gold medals will share on their campaign leading up to the Games. Chinese Taipei, ranked 7th on the medal table will share on their sports science and medical support in preparing over 500 athletes for the 2018 Asian Games.
