The umpires handed the New York Mets a double play with two blown cakes on the same at Philadelphia May 1, 2021. The fateful play came with the scored tied at 4-4 in the bottom of the 7th with a Phillies runner on first base and one out. After second base umpire Jose Navas incorrectly called Andrew McCutchen out for going out the baseline when Francisco Lindor of the Mets failed to tag the runner heading to second, first base umpire Andy Fletcher Wein hit valued batter Matt Joyce safe at first. A replay challenge by the Mets overturned the mistake at first for an out. But there was no such opportunity for the blown call at second. Thus a double play for the mess and the ending. Ouch. Big league mistake.
So MLB gone clock crazy. Atlanta batter called out with only 2 strikes to end game because he was not ready in time. Huh?
I can’t believe what I just saw. Tampa Bay Rays wild walk-off win over Los Angeles Dodgers. You must see the final play of Game 4 on Oct. 24, 2020 to believe it.
