Takeaways from No. 8 Wisconsin's win against Nebraska

1. Top-10 team by default Oklahoma’s loss to Iowa State means Wisconsin may move up a spot in this week’s Amway Coaches Poll. But while undefeated, the Badgers don’t look the part of a top-10 team. At times, the Badgers’ defense had no answer to Nebraska’s offense, whether on the ground or in the downfield passing game. Offensively, Wisconsin ran the ball effectively but failed to put together extended drives until the fourth quarter, when Nebraska’s defense wilted. (Though the Badgers get credit for wearing the Cornhuskers down.) Wisconsin looks like a top-10 team by virtue of its record and little more — for now. There will be opportunities in October and November to justify its ranking, most notably a game against Michigan on Nov. 18. But does it really matter?
