He also has been teaching Aikido to the students of Ryukyu university since 1988. In the year of 2000, he founded a martial art society, Meikaku-kai and began to teach Aiki-jiu-jitsu as a Grand Master in Tokyo and Okinawa. In 2002, his own Dojo was built in Kyoto, which is now the Hombu Dojo of Meikakukai. Maekawa Sensei currently holds the sixth Dan of the Aikikai Foundation and is a master of traditional Aiki-jiujitsu as well.
