Curry was really playing with 4 randoms at times. What I mean by that is that Curry would legit play with 4 new players who never really played in the Warriors system, and he just would look frustrated at times. And Stephen Curry has something to prove. It’s crazy how much recency bias can play a factor in determining who’s better. In the game against the Nets, well… Ok Kyrie was on fire, Draymond didn't play. Eventually it will click, but there will be growing pains. Legit, the Nets were allowed to legit triple team and the rest of the players didn't know where to exactly be on the court. Draymond definitely helps by adding a playmaker. And we’ve seen teams throw triple teams at Curry, in Game 3 against the Raptors when he had 47. Also Wiseman played solid, there’s hope for Curry to have Draymond and Wiseman pick and roll threats. Curry legit has one of the hardest work ethics in the NBA. He’s the same guy that couldn’t shoot from beyond the paint in highschool and got laughed at while he was reworking his shot. He had to strengthen himself and reinvent how he moves on the court to prevent ankle injuries. He made himself into a guy that could handle the ball at an elite level, finish with the best of them, and of course shoot. And now, he’s been doubted for a whole year. But forget that for a second, let’s look at how rest has helped another superstar: LeBron. LeBron hadn’t missed the finals in 8 years. He never had a long stretch off from the game, compared to everyone else. We all rave about LeBron’s continued longevity, he doesn’t get injured. And he gets to the finals every. Then the 2018-19 season happens, he gets injured, is out of it, remember Early Playoff LeBron, and not really considered for MVP. And then we have this season in which this regular season, LeBron is playing like an MVP before the break, highest assists per game, only misses 4 games, and is back on top. Stephen Curry had just made 5 straight finals. That’s a lot of basketball. Curry is one of the few stars that doesn’t get much break anywhere. When he doesn’t have the ball, he’s running all over. And on defense, most teams target Curry to pick on. And on top of that, Curry dealt with a lot of injuries, and that isn’t even including a sprained MCL in 2016. So now Curry’s had months and months of not only rest, but months and months to work on his game while being healthy. It’s like people are forgetting that he’s a two time MVP that changed the game. And he does get mad. Stephen Curry has something to prove. And this season may be even more important for the Curry brand. Just 3 weeks ago, Under Armour launched the Curry brand, the same way the Jordan brand is under Nike. It’s not just shoes, it’s a whole brand. We all know the better you play, the more popular you get cuz of that whole recency bias thing, the more jerseys you sell, the more shoes you sell. For example, in 2016, Curry had the most shoes sold among active players, second to only Jordan. Now there’s no KD, it’s all Curry. If you remember the 2017 finals, you’ll remember these kicks. Those kicks are the Curry 4 and that game was the first time he ever wore them. There was a lot of speculation that those kicks were meant to show off the shoes. And Curry isn’t just an athlete. He’s been heavily involved in off-court business, and now he has his own brand. If you think that he isn’t gonna play his best to boost his own brand, you just lying to yourself.
