Vikings vs Seahawks - GMG In The Raw!

Vikings vs Seahawks… Good morning Horners! Well, at least it is morning. Your Minnesota Vikings went into CenturyLink Field and played the Seattle Seahawks an “entertaining” game? After leading by 7 going into the half, basically from the pick 6 from Anthony Harris, the Vikings proceeded to allow the the Seahawks score and score and score. Then when the fans were starting to get really mad, the offense started their comeback. They closed to within 4 after a missed Dan Bailey extra point. They still had a chance as the meme goes, but the defense couldn’t get that final stop. The final was Vikings 30 - Seahawks 37. Looking at the game, Xavier Rhodes was on the top of the failed when it counts list, but there were plenty on the list. There were a lot of dropped passes by the Vikings receivers including two or three by Stefon Diggs, one of those resulting in an interception that wasn’t Kirk Cousins’ fault. There were fumbles by Dalvin Cook and then CJ Ham on a kick return. There was the successful fake punt that had us questioning why no one saw it coming, especially special teams coordinator Marwan Maalouf? Finally, the wide left extra point. It was frustrating and you have every right to your takes this week too. After two weeks to prepare by Mike Zimmer and his staff, this was a very important game that definitely had playoff seeding implications and would have boosted the team’s perception as a possible Super Bowl contender, the falling short once again almost ensure the Vikings will roll into the playoffs as the 6th seed and have to win on the road against good teams. Vikings vs Broncos, 3 Topics from PS1 - Two Old Bloggers
Vikings vs Broncos, 3 Topics from PS1 - Two Old Bloggers

Darren and Dave are select 3 topics from yesterday’s Minnesota Vikings vs Denver Broncos. Join the conversation! Topic 1: Panic?! It was a preseason game and there has been some panic already by fans across the internet, but should there be? 31 players didn’t play including all of the starters on the offense and defense with the one exception of Stephen Weatherly and D.J. Wonnum. Maybe they were hoping one of those two would stand out? Both got a single pressure. This game can be viewed as the traditional 4th preseason game in the past with all the starters resting. Only difference is that the rest of the roster didn't have playing time in games 1-3 to work on getting their mistakes out and improving. Do you view it that way? Topic 2: Jake Browning and Kellen Mond. Mike Zimmer wasn’t pleased to say the least. Browning didn’t look as well as he did in practice but still has the QB2 spot secured at the moment. Mond at least moved, but seemed slow speeding up to the NFL level. You might expect that from a rookie 3rd rounder, but that is not what was hoped for. What did you think? Was there any flashes from either that you liked? Topic 3: Why is Dakota Dozier still on this team? The team will have to cut down to 85 players by Tuesday afternoon. Dozier should survive that first initial cut due to depth issues, but should he? He was in competition with Old Udoh for the right guard slot, so his play against the Broncos first team was more realistic than just about any other playing up to the competition level [Vikings 2s vs the Broncos 1s]. What does the team see in him that they re-signed him? Join us for your Minnesota Vikings talk amongst Two Old Bloggers and join the conversation! Fan with us!!! Minnesota Vikings win! Now how should they handle the 2021 offseason?
Minnesota Vikings win! Now how should they handle the 2021 offseason?

Tonight, The Climbing The Pocket Network personalities of Jayson Brown. Myles Gorham , Flip Mazzi and Nick Olson recap the Minnesota Vikings win over the Detroit Lions, discuss team building with Zim and Rick and how the Vikings should handle the 2021 offseason, our top choices to replace Kubiak, and some notable free agents that would look great in purple. Your Minnesota Vikings defeated the Detroit Lions in an almost meaningless week 17 game to finish the season at a very painful 7-9. With that, the Vikes land the #14 draft slot and next season’s opponents have been set. Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer will get a chance to run everything back. After 7 seasons though, have they reached their collective ceiling? Can they bounce back with a more competitive team and one that makes a long run in the playoffs? Gary Kubiak might retire and Zimmer will be looking for a new offensive coordinator… again. Who will that be? Who would you like it to be? Who will maximize Kirk Cousins’ play and still play to Mike’s love of running the football with Dalvin Cook? After lots of injuries, especially on the defensive side of the football, getting those guys back and healthy will help, but what other free agents are available that can contribute to making the defense good or even elite again? What about the offensive side? The refrain of, “can he play guard?” rings across the Vikings Nation. Might one of those players be someone we see play this weekend for the Wildcard round of the playoffs? CTPN’s In The Huddle: talking Vikings, Panthers, Jaguars and Vlogmas

Climbing The Pocket Network’s ‘In The Huddle’ show combines some of the CTPN personalities to your Minnesota Vikings, the previous game against the Carolina Panthers and look forward to the Jacksonville Jaguars coming to town this Sunday. Dave opens the show announcing that CTPN will be going live with show broadcasts everyday of the month of December in an event called Vlogmas 2020. #LetsGetLive Nick leads with his praise of Kirk Cousins. His play has been very, very good over the last month and he hopes it continues from Kirktober last season into Kirkuary this one. Myles asks if we all can put the arguments to rest over “is Kirk Cousins better than Teddy Bridgewater?” Eric details that discussion. Jayson gets into the possible playoff picture and will the Vikings as constructed get there? Eric talks about the NFC being flat once you get beyond the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers. The Flip gets into with some of the viewers. “The Vikings aren’t even at .500 yet!” What a year 2020 has been for all of us and the purple. Join in the conversation and let’s talk some football! Vikings vs Texans - GMG In The Raw!
Vikings vs Texans - GMG In The Raw!

Good morning Horners! Your Minnesota Vikings went down to play the Houston Texans and pulled out their first victory of the season. Our favorite team showed more improvement in the offense looks to be getting its legs as we had three players with over 100 yards. Dalvin Cook continued with 130 yards on the ground and another 16 via receptions, leading to two touchdowns. Adam Thielen had eight receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown. Justin Jefferson had 103 yards on four beautiful receptions as well. Kirk Cousins continues to play well in October. He was 16 for 22 and had 127.1 rating. This is good to see considering the Vikings defense still struggles with the youngsters and the backups getting so much playing time due to injuries. Speaking of that defense, we saw Harrison Smith ejected after a hit where it look like he lead with his head. The rule doesn’t have “intent” in it, and the combination of the receiver ducking his head down, even though Hitman wanted to lead with his shoulder, it was clear that helmets hit. That brought in George Iloka who hadn’t played any snaps in over a season and 1/2, and it showed. Word has it though, that Smith will not be suspended and be available for next week’s game at the Seattle Seahawks. The young corners look to be improving but still have a long way to go. The defensive line did get more pressure, but some of that could be attributed to the poor play of the Texans. Hopefully all this improvement continues. Vikings vs Chargers - GMG In The Raw!
Vikings vs Chargers - GMG In The Raw!

Kirk Cousins looked decent, especially moving around the pocket. We saw him make a first down running when a lane opened up. This was good because it is rare for his pay. That shows improvement as well. The two dropped snaps in the first quarter need to stop and his interception on the screen does too, but all of the turnovers generated by the defense aided to get short fields that Kevin Stefanski took advantage of. Dalvin Cook went out of the game early in the third quarter and Mike Boone came in and didn’t miss a beat. He had 53 yards in less than a half and was fun to watch. Stefon Diggs was making great catches and even Adam Thielen had three that resulted in key first downs. Kyle Rudolph again looked good and Irv Smith Jr got in the action with Kirk’s only throwing touchdown. It was a good day. We now have a long victory week. The team is 10-4 and has somewhere near a 95% chance of making the playoffs. The next game is the Monday Nighter against our rivals in US Bank Stadium, but we’ll get more into the Packers later.
