Another Front Range showdown is on tap for the Wyoming Cowboys, as they visit the Air Force Falcons Saturday night in Colorado Springs. Wyoming (6-3, 4-1) is looking for their sixth win in their last seven games. The Cowboys have won three of the last four in the series, but lost in Colorado Springs two years ago, 31-17. Air Force (4-5, 3-2) is in need of two more victories to get bowl eligible. They enter off a loss to academy rival Army last week, as the Falcons got shutout, 21-0. This will be the third option team Wyoming has faced this season, but Cowboys’ head coach Craig Bohl said it is significantly different. Junior defensive end Josiah Hall is a native of Colorado Springs. KOWB’s David Settle caught up with him earlier in the week to recap the Border War win, talk about his hometown connection and preview Air Force. SAN ANTONIO (AP) — The Spurs are without their two main leaders from last season, but they are not lacking in direction. Resurgent forward LaMarcus Aldridge and second-year player Dejounte Murray continue to lead the way as San Antonio remained unbeaten by fighting past Toronto. Aldridge had 20 points and Murray had 16 points and 14 rebounds and the Spurs held on to beat the Raptors 101-97 on Monday night. “Just an overall good win against a really well-coached, disciplined team that has a lot of expectations,” San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said. “It’s good for our confidence since we’re trying to put some things together.” The Spurs are missing leading scorer Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker, who are both rehabilitating from quadriceps injury. San Antonio has struggled to find an offensive flow without their veterans, but Murray is attempting to step into the void in just his second season. “I just want to win,” Murray said. “I got that winning in my (inside) and in my DNA. I just do anything to win. If I don’t score a point, I’m going to go rebound. If I don’t rebound, I’m going to try facilitate or I’m going to try to play defense. That’s the thing that you’ve got to have.” San Antonio needed that grit from the 21-year-old point guard in slugging through a physical game. Both teams were assessed 20-plus fouls and Aldridge and Serge Ibaka received technical fouls after an altercation with 3:36 remaining in the game. The two got tangled battling for position under the
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Montell Cozart rushed for two touchdowns and threw for another to help Boise State beat Wyoming 24-14 Saturday night. After pulling an upset last week on the road against San Diego State, the Broncos (5-2, 3-0 Mountain West) appeared flat early, mustering only 118 yards in the first half — just 29 of that through the air. Trailing 7-3 to start the second half, the Broncos cobbled together an 18-play, 71-yard drive that consumed 9:46 and ended on a 4-yard touchdown run by Cozart. Wyoming (4-3, 2-1) answered with a 20-yard scoring strike from Josh Allen to Austin Fort to take a 17-14 lead late in the third quarter. In the fourth, Boise State took control of the game. Cozart scored on another 4-yard run and, just more than two minutes later, hit Cedrick Wilson for a 24-yard touchdown. Allen, who led the Cowboys with 62 yards rushing, threw for 131 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. However, in the fourth quarter, he struggled against Boise State's relentless pressure. THE TAKEAWAY Wyoming: Last season, the Cowboys' stunning win over Boise State ultimately knocked the Broncos out of the Mountain West conference championship game. It also paved the way for Wyoming to play for the title. The roles could very well be reversed this season, though Wyoming is still in good position should Boise State falter down the stretch as it has done the past two seasons. Late in the third quarter, Jalen Hurts threw a strike to freshman receiver Henry Ruggs for a 20-yard touchdown to make it 31-3. It was a nice play call and great execution. SECOND QUARTER (Alabama 24, Arkansas 0) After the hot start, Alabama’s offense went cold for much of the second quarter.
