Having previously been a ball-boy for the club, Ndlovu joined the academy of Maritzburg United from the now defunct Umgungundlovu Academy of Sport in Pietermaritzburg. He excelled during his time in the club's academy where he played in the SAB League and earned the nickname Mbesuma, in reference to former PSL top goalscorer, Collins Mbesuma. In 2016, he was promoted to senior side by coach Roger De Sa alongside Mlondi Dlamini and Tso Motjatji.He made his debut for the club on 22 October 2016 when he came on as a substitute for Denis Weidlich in a penalty shootout loss to Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup.His league debut followed on 20 December in a 1–1 draw with Bidvest Wits and he went on to make 18 appearances across all competitions for the season. In January 2018, Ndlovu became the first-ever player from Maritzburg United to win the Absa Premiership Player of the Month award.In April 2018, amidst rumours linking him to Maritzburg's PSL rivals, Ndlovu signed a new long-term contract with the club. He made his 50th appearance for the club on 25 April, starting in a 2–2 draw with Mamelodi Sundowns.The following month, he featured in the Nedbank Cup final where Maritzburg United were defeated 1–0 by Free State Stars. On 21 May, following a campaign in which he played in all but three matches and scored five goals, he was nominated for a host of PSL awards including the awards for Midfielder of the Season, Young Player of the Season and Footballer of the Season. He was also nominated for the Most Promising Player award for his performances in the Nedbank Cup.He won the former two awards at the PSL Awards ceremony held on 29 May. Ndlovu, who is considered a frontrunner for the league’s Young Player of the Season award, grabbed three assists throughout the month of January and has now been rewarded for his form by winning a monthly award for the first time. According to a statement from the PSL, the other players in contention for the gong were Orlando Pirates’ Luvuyo Memela, Daniel Cardoso of Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits captain, Thulani Hlatshwayo. Meanwhile, the other winners today were Pirates coach, Milutin Sredojevic, and Mamelodi Sundowns’ Tiyani Mabunda as they won Coach and Goal of the Month respectively. The rising Maritzburg United starlet enjoyed an impressive 2017/18 campaign, and was one of the Team of Choice’s key players in helping them achieve a club record fourth-place finish in the league. Nominated for Midfielder and overall Footballer of the Season accolades as well, the 21-year-old has risen to prominence in just his second season with the first team, while also earning a call-up to Stuart Baxter’s Bafana Bafana Cosafa Cup squad. Recording five goals and four assists in the 27 league matches he played, Ndlovu was the league’s most-fouled player, while his passing accuracy for the season sat at 82.1%, one of the highest in the team. At the other end of the pitch, Ndlovu averaged just over two blocks and two clearances per game, while winning 1.3 tackles per 90 minutes, the second-most in his team.
