Dwayne Evans had just tied the game at 68 with 21 seconds left and SLU coach Jim Crews opted to call timeout to set his defense for St. Bonaventure’s final possession… After managing to get past Mike McCall Jr. at the top of the arc with five seconds remaining, Charlon Kloof was intercepted by Rob Loe as soon as he stepped foot inside the 3-point arc. In an instant, three Billlikens (Loe, McCall and now Jett) were applying pressure… But then Kloof picked up his dribble and went airborne. He found the smallest of cracks in the Bills’ airtight defense and he exploited it, whipping an overhead pass between Loe’s outstretched arms and into the hands of Gathers at the top of the arc. Evans frantically rushed over to try and contest the shot, but 7-foot center Youssou Ndoye’s high-ball screen bought his teammate just enough time to get the shot off before Evans could contest it. In an instant, game over.
