In a battle between legendary sports rivals, FC Barcelona took a decisive step to reach the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Playoffs by downing Real Madrid 76-81 at WiZink Center on Thursday. Barcelona improved to 21-8 in the standings and would mathematically punch its playoffs tickets if either Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul or Zalgiris Kaunas lose on Friday. Meanwhile, Real dropped to 17-12 but remains in the playoffs zone. The host took control with a 16-0 run midway through the third quarter, and it was 55-46 with ten minutes remaining. Real battled back to 61-60, but Hapoel’s defense held firm to seal a valuable victory. All-EuroLeague star Bryant inspired Hapoel with 19 points and 9 rebounds, supported by Chris Jones with 19 points and 7 boards.
