Na sser Hussain's player ratings as England suffer first Test defeat to West Ind ies

As England slumped to a first Test defeat to West Indies in Barbados, Sportsmail's resident expert Nasser Hussain runs judgment over individual performances. Keaton Jennings - 3 Put on a good partnership in the second innings but it was mainly down to his opening partner and he looks vulnerable to seam, particularly on the drive, playing robotically away from his body. Rory Burns - 8 Played really well, getting his tempo and the balance between defence and attack absolutely right. Will have been disappointed to get out just before lunch to a ball that didn’t spin. But a real tick for me. Jonny Bairstow - 5 His technique looked better here than in England, moving back and across more to cover off-stump. Possibly would have viewed himself unlucky in this Test — bowled off his elbow and caught down the leg-side. I like an attacking No 3 and he is attacking. Joe Root - 4 Made errors with team selection and as captain he has to take responsibility for that. Leaving Stuart Broad out was a massive mistake on that pitch. Soft dismissal when steering Roston Chase to slip second time around. Ben Stokes - 7 Bowled really well. The pick of the England attack on the first day for me, before Anderson’s burst with the second new ball. Showed great fitness. Looks a little out of nick with the bat. His strike rate is down over the last year and I would like him to be more positive. Jos Buttler - 5 Got a good nut in the first innings when Roach extracted extra bounce and fell to a brilliant catch at midweek in the second — but a soft way to go. Moeen Ali - 3 Bowled well to start a mini- collapse on day two but two brain fades — as even he himself calls them — with the bat. A frustrating cricketer. Can be brilliant but also capable of ordinary games. Ben Foakes - 5 Kept well, apart from a little phase on day two when a couple of deliveries burst through his hands. Very unlucky when the ball ended up at short leg from a sweep. Despite being man of the series in Sri Lanka could be vulnerable if England look to revert to plan A with Bairstow keeping. Sam Curran - 5 Firstly, it was not his fault he was picked to take the new ball. He is not a new-ball bowler in the Caribbean. He is probably a fourth seamer. Also, No 9 is too low for him to launch his counter-attacks with the bat. Needs to work on the short ball. Adil Rashid - 3 Bowled poorly. Wasn’t trusted by Root on day three when he bowled only seven overs, making the workload too heavy for Stokes and Anderson. If it looks like it is going to turn in Antigua, England might want the more accurate spin of Jack Leach. James Anderson - 9 Turned around the first day with his mastery of the second new ball and his first-innings figures were remarkable. He is actually getting better with age and the batsmen keep letting him down. A team score of 77 did not provide him with much of a rest. WEST INDIES John Campbell - 6 Looked very organised and showed good composure. Took a good catch. Fine start to his Test career. Kraigg Brathwaite - 6 Involved in two 50 partnerships but is a player capable of big innings and he will want to convert these starts. Shai Hope - 6 After a recent poor patch he would have been pleased to see England — a team he always does well against. Outstanding stumping for the last wicket too. Darren Bravo - 3 Looked like a guy who hasn’t batted much recently, highlighting the importance of preparation. You cannot just throw people into Test cricket. Roston Chase - 9 Runs in the first innings and performance of a lifetime with the ball. Chase (right) probably could not believe how England played him but answered the question West Indies had before the match. If they played four quicks, was he up to the spin role? Shimron Hetmyer - 7 Very enjoyable to watch. A big future ahead of him.

Hugo Lloris calls on Tottenham fans to back their team ahead of Borussia Dortmund clash

Subscribe to our channel: https://goo.gl/pqS0mLHugo Lloris calls on Tottenham fans to back their team ahead of Borussia Dortmund clash. Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has called on supporters to rally behind the team ahead of Wednesday night's Champions League knockout tie against Borussia Dortmund. The captain's call to arms comes amid slumping attendances at Wembley. The recent home game against Watford saw less than 30,000 turn up as supporters become disgruntled with the delayed move to the new White Hart Lane. The attendance in the 3-1 victory over Leicester was back up beyond 44,000 but over 82,000 attended when Tottenham hosted Barcelona in the Champions League earlier in the season. Lloris said: 'We need the stadium to push, to help us. In some days it's difficult to deal with Wembley but hopefully in this big game we'll receive this help from the crowd.' In the Premier League, Tottenham remain within five points of Liverpool and Manchester City after beating Leicester. Lloris made a string of excellent stops including a penalty save when Jamie Vardy took the kick with his first touch as a substitute. Lloris said: 'I know him a little more than other players. He usually shoots strong and he can go everywhere [in the goal]. But on his first touch? You need intuition and a bit of luck [to save it].' Lloris also warned Spurs must produce a better performance against Dortmund after Leicester had 20 shots on goal. The Frenchman added: 'Leicester played in a fantastic way and I think we won the game thanks to our spirit and character. Without that, we could not win this game. 'I think we need to improve the team performance. We won but against a bigger side we couldn't have won that type of game. It's up to us. The mentality is great in the changing room and we showed that again on a difficult day.'

Angel Di Maria returns to Man United as PSG train at Old Trafford
Angel Di Maria returns to Man United as PSG train at Old Trafford

Subscribe to our channel: https://goo.gl/pqS0mLAngel Di Maria returns to Man United as PSG train at Old Trafford. PSG trained at Old Trafford on Monday evening little more than 24 hours before the beggining of their Champions League last-16 tie with Manchester United. The Paris giants will face United for the first time ever in a competitive match on Tuesday night as their two-legged European clash gets underway. But PSG winger Angel Di Maria will find himself in familiar surroundings, having spent the 2014-15 season as a United player. Di Maria did not enjoy the best of times in England, but he looked relaxed as he trained alongside his PSG team-mates on the eve of Tuesday's first leg. Along with Kylian Mbappe, 30-year-old Di Maria will be one of the biggest names on PSG's Old Trafford team-sheet as star duo Neymar and Edinson Cavani are set to miss the game through injury. There had been a glimmer of hope that Cavani may shake off a thigh issue to feature, but PSG confirmed on Monday that he will not be in their squad this week.   Right back Thomas Meunier is also unavailable, forcing PSG boss Thomas Tuchel to make changes, although he is reluctant to tweak his tactics too much. Speaking via a translator on Monday, Tuchel said: 'Obviously we're going to be missing a couple of key attackers, but you don't change your identity for that reason. 'We have a tradition, we play attacking football and that is how we're used to playing — to create chances. 'It's in our DNA. That's how we play. To change it is really difficult.'

Under fire boss Maurizio Sarri oversees Chelsea training after Manchester City loss
Under fire boss Maurizio Sarri oversees Chelsea training after Manchester City loss

Subscribe to our channel: https://goo.gl/pqS0mLUnder-fire boss Maurizio Sarri oversees Chelsea training after Manchester City loss. Under-fire Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri watched on as his players were put through their paces in training on Monday afternoon while his future remained far from certain. The Italian was left clinging to his job on Sunday night after Chelsea’s embarrassing 6-0 defeat at Manchester City.  But it appeared to be business as usual for the Blues as Sarri watched on as his players turned their attention to their Europa League clash with Malmo on Thursday night. Assistant Gianfranco Zola appeared to be the one leading the session while Sarri was involved in a deep discussion on the touchline with captain Cesar Azpilicueta. Sarri was not wearing his usual Chelsea kit as he came into the training ground for his post-match debrief and instead watched the practice at the club's Cobham base in his own clothing. He looked an isolated figure at times and appeared to be in deep thought while looking at the floor as the session unfolded in front of him.   Most of those involved in the session appeared to be second-string players with those who played in the humiliating defeat were given time to recover. The 60-year-old will only lose his job if owner Roman Abramovich decides to intervene and cut him loose.  Club director Marina Granovskaia made the decision to hire Sarri in the summer after being attracted by 'some of the most exciting football in Europe' from his Napoli team.  Granovskaia does have the power to end Sarri's reign but that would be unlikely given he was her appointment last year.  Sarri remained coy over his future on Sunday and, when asked if he was expecting a call from Abramovich, pointed towards the power structure at Chelsea. ‘You have to ask the club,’ Sarri said amid growing calls for his removal after a fourth defeat in eight games. ‘I’m worried about my team. I’m worried about the performance. My job is always at risk. ‘If the president calls, I’ll be happy, seeing as I never hear from him. ‘To be honest, I don’t know what to expect. I didn’t see my football. At the beginning of the season it worked. Now we need to understand the reasons why it isn’t working. It is not easy.’  Chelsea players looked particularly downbeat as they pulled into the club's Cobham training base on Monday morning. Willian, David Luiz and N'Golo Kante were among those seen driving into the facility as they swiftly returned to the training pitch.  An under-pressure Sarri must now rouse his players for Thursday's Europa League knockout tie with Swedish side Malmo. Things then get even tougher as they face a rejuvenated Manchester United in the FA Cup next Monday. Former Chelsea captain Frank Lampard is the bookmakers' favourite to become the next permanent boss if Sarri is shown the door. Lampard has impressed so far this season with Derby County in the Championship in what is his first job as a manager since ending his illustrious playing career.   Lampard has been installed as 2/1 favourite with a few firms, edging out three-time Champions League winner Zinedine Zidane, who is yet to return to management since leaving Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho, sacked by Manchester United in December, is out at 12/1 for a return to Chelsea for a third spell. Lampard enjoyed a trophy-laden career as a player at Chelsea and would be a hit with supporters if he does one day become first-team manager.  He returned to Stamford Bridge with Derby earlier this season and received a hero's welcome before his side gave the hosts a scare before losing 3-2.

Vishwa Fernando took a career-best four for 62 as Sri Lanka made an encouraging start to the first Test against South Africa in Durban. Fernando removed openers Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar and the hosts were reeling on 17 for three before Faf du Plessis and Temba Bavuma steadied the ship. Du Plessis hit 35 and Bavuma 47 as the duo put on a crucial 72 for the fourth wicket, before Quinton de Kock top-scored with 80. However, wickets fell steadily around de Kock and South Africa were eventually dismissed for 235. Dale Steyn struck early to remove Lahiru Thirimanne but Sri Lanka were nicely placed at 49 for one at the close of play.

Jamie George heaps praise on Owen Farrell after England's win over France
Jamie George heaps praise on Owen Farrell after England's win over France

Subscribe to our channel: https://goo.gl/pqS0mLJamie George heaps praise on Owen Farrell after England's win over France. Jamie George views Owen Farrell as a rugby 'genius' whose presence has grown with his promotion to the England captaincy. While Jonny May brought Twickenham to its feet by grabbing a hat-trick of tries in Sunday's 44-8 victory over France, it was Farrell who orchestrated the downfall of feeble opponents. The Saracens playmaker, assisted by half-back partner Ben Youngs, expertly exploited the acres of space available in the backfield through a variety of kicks as England registered their biggest win in the fixture since 1911. In the injury-enforced absence of co-captain Dylan Hartley, Farrell has taken over as sole leader of the team and his Saracens team-mate George believes he is thriving as a result. 'The bloke's a genius. I never see him have a bad game and that's why he's one of the best players in the world, if not the best player in the world,' George said. 'In my eyes, it's amazing to be playing with a fly-half and captain who is as dominant as he is and who leads from the front in the way that he does. 'Owen's been a captain and leader for a long time now. It's not a new thing for us but he does it really well and it brings the best out of him in terms of his game. He's performing really well.' May elevated his strike rate to 12 tries in as many Tests after breaching the fragile French whitewash three times inside the opening half hour. Two of the scores were touch downs of kicks made possible by his speed, but his remarkable pace was also evident in the second when he outfoxed wing Damian Penaud from a standing start. When asked if May's form makes him unstoppable at the moment, George replied: 'Can no one tell him that please! We need to keep his feet on the ground! 'We're really happy for him because he works incredibly hard. People think he's just this fast kid who happens to be good at rugby, but he puts a huge amount of time into his preparation. 'He probably does more than anyone else in the squad, so he deserves all the praise he gets.' England have dismantled Ireland and France on successive weekends in a majestic start to the Six Nations that has plotted a course to a showdown with Wales on February 23 that could emerge as a title decider. Wales are also unbeaten and George, now the team's first-choice hooker ahead of Hartley following another superb afternoon, knows Eddie Jones' tournament favourites face a tough assignment in Cardiff. 'We have to be aware that we did well against France but recognise that it wasn't the perfect performance,' George said. 'We really did a lot of analysis. We focused on ourselves a lot this week and tried to make sure we put our best performance out there. 'We still didn't do that so an exciting thing for us is there's still a lot to come. The important thing for us is to keep the ball rolling.'
