Breakdown of the impact newly acquired wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders has had on the 49ers offense in just one game this season. From his first game action against the Carolina Panthers , we can see that Sanders was brought in to be both the 49ers #1 wide receiver and a reliable third down and red zone threat. Sanders was targeted on 5 passes against Carolina and caught 4 of them finishing the day with 25 yards and 1 touchdown. Although the yards in his first game isn’t eye-popping, the fact that he was targeted on and converted two 3rd down plays and scored in the red zone shows you that he’s going to be relied on in crucial situations in the coming weeks for the niners. With less than a full week of practice, Sanders lead all of the 49ers receivers with 53 out of the potential 66 offensive snaps. The receiver with the second most snaps was Deebo Samuel with 45. Sanders lined up in all three WR positions and finished with a PFF grade of 69.4 which was the highest rated 49ers wide receiving grade. Although the 49ers use a heavy rotation with their receivers, look for Sanders to continue to lead the receivers in snaps in the coming weeks. It looks like the 49ers have found a viable receiving threat to go alongside their pro bowl tight end, George Kittle. It should be fun to see what Shanahan can do with his tiny new toy. Thanks so much for watching! We’ll be doing weekly film breakdowns throughout the season so make sure to subscribe to see more. Thanks again and GO NINERS!
