Griz drop wild Big Sky opener in Cheney 27-36 by: Fritz Neighbor CHENEY, Wash. - The Montana Grizzlies tried to pull the red rug out from under Eastern Washington on Saturday, but the fired-up, ball-hawking, hard-running Eagles weren't having it. Especially Taiwan Jones. Jones ran for a career-best 221 yards and a touchdown in No. 18 Eastern's 36-27 win over the Grizzlies in front of a record crowd at red-carpeted Roos Field. The junior's 72-yard touchdown brought the Eagles back from an early 14-0 deficit, and his running keyed a late drive to a Mike Jarrett field goal, putting the Eagles up 30-27 with 4 seconds left.

Griz dominate Weber in key conference game MontanaGrizzlies.Com The contest, featuring two nationally ranked teams, was billed as game of the year in the Big Sky Conference. Weber State apparently didnt get the message. No. 2 Montana topped No. 14 Weber State 31-10 in a critical Big Sky contest. Montana held the Wildcat offense more than 140 yards under their total offense season average, and the Griz, led by Chase Reynolds 241 yards rushing, ran over the WSU defense. Montana put together a balanced offensive game, gaining 288 yards on the ground and 218 passing, compared to Webers 56 and 243. Andrew Selle took most of Montanas snaps at quarterback, throwing 13-of-26 for 214 yards and two touchdowns. Marc Mariani was his top target, catching four balls for 98 yards.
