China team head coach Lang Ping said: "It was a wonderful match. In the first two sets, we did not perform well in the first pass and blocking. However, starting from the third set, we had better reception. Italy is a strong team, we will go back and reflect in order to improve ourselves. Lastly, I would like to thank the fans from Hong Kong for their encouragement and support." China captain Zhu Ting said: "I am very thankful to my team and the fans. We are happy with the victory and we will work hard to improve." Italy head coach Davide Mazzanti said: "Congratulations to China. It was an amazing match. I feel upset for Italy but our team have already had good performances. At this moment, Team China is better than Team Italy. However, I am happy and satisfied with our team's match tonight. It is a good start for this season." Italy captain Cristina Chirichella said: "We did lose a few critical points in the match today. We will perform better next time." The 25-year-old outside hitter had another field day, scoring 26 points with an excellent 65% attacking efficiency. Captain Natalia Pereira was back on the starting lineup, but again only played in the first set, before being substituted for Amanda Francisco. On the other side of the net, Andrea Drews with 19 points and Dana Rettke with a great match and 17 dealt with the scoring, but that brought USA no nowhere near to a win. Brazil's victory brings the South American powerhouse to within the qualifying zone for the Final Six of the VNL (3-7 July in Nanjing). But after only their second defeat of the season, USA dropped to 7-2 allowing Turkey to enjoy solitude at the top of the table on 8-1. The Balkan side had previously completed their obligations in Week 3 with three straight wins in Bangkok. And when the VNL reconvenes in a week's time, fans in Jiangmen will get to watch four of the top five teams in the standings: Turkey, USA, China and Poland. Week 3 provided some thrilling action across the board, including some high-scoring performances by Italy's Paola Egonu (40 points against China, 2-3), the Dominican Republic's Brayelin Martinez (36 against Thailand, 3-2), Poland's Malwina Smarzek (33 against Russia, 3-2) and Germany's Louisa Lippmann (30 against Brazil, 3-2). ✅ Subscribe ©Titans Volleyball LIFE ➤ https://goo-gl.me/bxJU1 ===================================================== | Kortrijk, Belgium, June 6, 2019 - Poland defeated pool hosts Belgium in 2019 women's FIVB Volleyball Nations League Pool 12 on Wednesday. Poland coach Jacek Navrocki: "Today was a question of motivation. We delivered a better performance than yesterday. I know that some Belgian players with Polish roots were extra motivated to play against us. Probably too motivated. But be sure that I was interested to have them in my team, but the Belgian federation was quicker. Just as the Belgian team we are working with a new generation and I see them working hard. I agree that we have in the only 18-year-old Magdalena Stysiak perhaps a new 'star' in the Polish volley. She started for the first time in our selection, she followed the whole preparation and she is doing well. Let's hope she can be part of a complete new talented team." Celine Van Gestel: "Our strong point is that we can fight the whole match, even if we are five points down. That is good. We also know that we have to improve in serving and defense, but we stay all the time focused. It was nice to play against Poland in the preparation of the European Championships in Lodz, where the supporters make it probably still more crazy than here in Kortrijk. We play every match to win, and we will do that same tomorrow against Serbia." ✅ Subscribe ©Titans Volleyball LIFE ➤ https://goo-gl.me/bxJU1 ===================================================== | Bangkok, Thailand, June 5, 2019 – Ten blocks were key as Turkey won their second match of week 3 over Bulgaria in straights sets 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-23) at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok on Wednesday. Giovanni Guidetti, coach of Turkey: "Of course it was great to get three points. We played very good volleyball in every part of the game in the first two sets but in the third set, I am not happy about how we played. If we want to become a better team, we should not drop our level." When asked about the team’s chances against Thailand for the next match, he added: "Tomorrow, of course, it is going to be a very difficult game for us. First of all, everybody knows how amazing Thailand can play volleyball. Because they can play well in every element of the game. It will be a very complicated game playing in front of this amazing crowd. So we are very excited to play this kind of match. We have to study and prepare ourselves." Kubra Chaliskan, captain of Bulgaria: "It is good to get the win. We will continue playing like this. I look forward to a tough match against Thailand tomorrow." Ivan Petkov, coach of Bulgaria: "Congratulations to the Turkey team. They played very well today. For us, I don’t know how to say because we have a lot of problems especially, reception, defense, and blocking, so we could not make good attacks. I think we have to keep practicing really hard." Lora Kitipova, captain of Bulgaria: "I don’t know what to say about our game because I think it was the worst match for us. Turkey played really well. So congratulations to them for the victory." ✅ Subscribe ©Titans Volleyball LIFE ➤ https://goo-gl.me/bxJU1 ===================================================== | Kortrijk, Belgium, June 4, 2019 - Even without their top guns, reigning world champions Serbia stopped table leaders Poland in their tracks Tuesday evening at Kortrijk with a very convincing 3-0 (27-25 25-21, 25-22) win on the opening day of Week 3 of the 2019 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League. It was Serbia's fourth win in seven matches, masterfully executed by teenager Katarina Lazovic who led the Balkan side in scoring with 18 points. The 19-year-old outside hitter provided an exceptional show overall and thrilled Serbia fans who got a very promising glimpse of what the furture generation has to offer. Poland's opposite Malwina Smarzek was still top scorer of the game on 19 points, but with an attacking efficiency of just 36% (19/52) rather below the standard that earned her last week three entries (including an all-time VNL high) in the list of 30+ points scorers. That leaves Turkey, who had earlier defeated the Dominican Republic in Bangkok in four sets, and Italy, who had previously downed the Netherlands also in four at Hong Kong, standing in first place at 5-1 - though USA could well catch up later in the dayif they beat Korea at home in Nebraska. Poland had a chance to set off on a better note, when they led 22-24 in the first set. But a series of mostly unforced errors evaporated their two set balls and allowed Serbia to overtake them and take the set on their own second set point. A couple of substitutions in the starting lineup of the third set by Polish coach Jacek Nawrocki hardly made an impact, as Branko Kovacevic (standing in this week for Serbia head coach Zoran Terzic) remained with his starting lineup throughout - in fact not even making any substitutions at all in the second and third sets. And just as Poland closed in to 23-22 in the third in a feeble attempt at a comeback, 23-year-old setter Sladjana Mirkovic brought it home, taking Serbia to match point with a first-touch attack and then stepping up to the service line to deliver an astounding ace in the far corner.

Italy head coach Davide Mazzanti said: "We are happy with the victory today. Even though at times we gave way too much and had some trouble with our reception. We will continue to improve and we are ready for the upcoming challenges." Italy team captain Cristina Chirichella said: "Our team did a great job. There were some ups and downs but we did well in general. We are very happy with the result." Netherlands head coach Alessandro Bettrami said: "Our team is very young. I am 65 percent satisfied with the result. We did not perform very well at the beginning but our young team is trying to get used to the fast pace and face adversities during the match. It was not easy for us but we will continue to improve." Netherlands team captain Marrit Jasper said: "We did not start so good at the first set but we gradually improved, especially in our reception. Italy was really strong at blocking." ✅ Subscribe ©Titans Volleyball LIFE ➤ https://goo-gl.me/bxJU1 ===================================================== | Conegliano, Italy, May 29, 2019 - On the second day of Pool 5 of the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League, reigning world champions Serbia were victorious against the Dominican Republic in four sets. Serbia player Mina Popovic: "We're happy with the win. We're a younger team, yesterday was our first game. This team can do very well. It will be very difficult against Italy because they are a very strong team with players who played in the World Championship last year. We have to organise our game as best we can. The winner is whoever plays best." Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek: "We must improve especially in reception. What worked yesterday we didn't manage to do today. That's why we suffered a lot, we weren't able to get out of this situation." Dominican Republic player Marte Frica: "We missed a lot of concentration today. We suffered on a lot of points especially at the beginning and end of the sets. We were not able to be effective." ✅ Subscribe ©Titans Volleyball LIFE ➤ https://goo-gl.me/bxJU1 ===================================================== | Belgrade, Serbia, May 23, 2019 - Turkey remained at the very top of the table at the close of the first week of play in the 2019 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-20) sweep of reigning world champions Serbia Thursday night. This being a Balkan derby with a historic rivarly between the two sides, it was as much about bragging rights as it was about the points earned - though those will come in very handy as Turkey seek their entry into the Final Six for the second year running, after finishing runners-up to USA in the 2018 VNL. Coach Zoran Terzic brought on a few of his top guns for the game in a vain attempt to finish the opening week undefeated. The MVP of the 2018 FIVB World Championship Tijana Boskovic was one of those - and indeed she did top score for Serbia with 15 points, but that proved hardly a match for the opposite side's Ebrar Karakurt who hauled a match-high 20 (including 4 aces). In fact, performing under par, Boskovic had to be subbed out in the third set. Turkey showed far more passion on the court and blanked the bulk of attacking efforts of Serbia, either on the net or with some of their fiery digging, restricting the home team to a 36% (34/93) efficiency - as compared to Turkey's 45% (42/93). It was Turkey's third win in as many matches so far in the VNL, following victories over Korea and the Netherlands. Serbia have now fallen to 2-1, having had already beaten the same opponents.
