HIGHLIGHTS | Tottenham vs Arsenal (0-4) | Hennessy (2), McCabe, Patten
HIGHLIGHTS | Tottenham vs Arsenal (0-4) | Hennessy (2), McCabe, Patten

Jonas Eidevall made a fine start to life in north London on Sunday as we ran out 4-0 winners over Tottenham in a pre-season friendly. With a number of players still on holiday following Tokyo 2020, our head coach named a reduced squad with two academy products in our starting XI - and they certainly stepped up to the challenge. In fact, it was Alex Hennessy who opened the scoring inside 30 minutes after being trusted to lead the line. Anna Patten timed her run perfectly down the right wing and whipped the ball across the face of goal, where Hennessy was waiting to head home her first at senior level. We stepped things up a gear following the restart too, pressing and playing out from the back with far greater intensity. We eventually dragged Tottenham’s defence out of position, forcing a foul on Beth Mead inside the penalty area, and Katie McCabe was on hand to rifle a powerful effort into the roof of the net. Anna Patten then went on to make it three with the best strike of the evening, firing into the bottom corner from 20 yards, before Hennessy doubled her tally deep into stoppage time. With a stunning team move that saw us shift from defence to attack in a matter of seconds, Lisa Evans raced free down the right wing and selflessly squared for Hennessy, who tapped home from close and capped off a fine evening in north London. #arsenal #arsenalwomen Enjoy match highlights, training and behind the scenes to get closer to the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Vivianne Miedema, Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette, Leah Williamson, Bernd Leno, Willian, Hector Bellerin, Jordan Nobbs, Bukayo Saka, Kim Little, Gabriel Martinelli, Thomas Partey and more. HIGHLIGHTS | Tottenham vs Arsenal (1-0) | Ben White makes his debut
HIGHLIGHTS | Tottenham vs Arsenal (1-0) | Ben White makes his debut

Our final match of pre-season ended in defeat as we were beaten on the road by Tottenham in the Mind Series on Sunday afternoon. With the start of the new campaign less than a week away, there was much intrigue about our starting XI and what it would say about how we plan to line up at Brentford. Mikel Arteta named a strong side for this derby clash with Ben White making his first start for us and Albert Sambi Lokonga named in midfield. The new signings both impressed during a tight first half, Lokonga neat and tidy in midfield with a controlled performance that belied his years, while White didn’t put a foot wrong at the back and always looked ready to push forward out of the backline. We saw a lot of the ball during the opening 45 minutes, with Alex Lacazette going closest for us with a shot from the edge of the area that kissed the outside of the post. But it was the hosts who had the two best opportunities of the first half, with Bernd Leno denying Son Heung-min with a brilliant, brave save early on, before Dele Alli struck the woodwork from close range just before the interval. The Tottenham midfielder repeated the trick, this time from even closer range, just before the hour mark after meeting a free kick at the far post, while Sergio Reguilon fizzed another shot just wide moments later. The home side eventually scored the only goal of the game when Son fired in from close range, and while we had half chances for Balogun and Bukayo Saka before the end, we couldn’t find a way back into the game. #arsenal #benwhite Enjoy match highlights, training and behind the scenes to get closer to the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Vivianne Miedema, Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette, Leah Williamson, Bernd Leno, Willian, Hector Bellerin, Jordan Nobbs, Bukayo Saka, Kim Little, Gabriel Martinelli, Thomas Partey and more. HIGHLIGHTS | Arsenal vs Chelsea (1-2) | Pre-season - Mind Series | Havertz, Xhaka, Abraham
HIGHLIGHTS | Arsenal vs Chelsea (1-2) | Pre-season - Mind Series | Havertz, Xhaka, Abraham

We suffered a narrow defeat in our opening Mind Series game, as fans returned to Emirates Stadium. There were more than 20,000 inside the stadium, our largest home crowd since March 7, 2020 when 60,000 packed in to watch us beat West Ham 1-0 in the Premier League. And although there were moments to cheer - Granit Xhaka's headed equaliser and Ben White making a goal saving block on his debut - we ended up on the wrong side of the scoreline. Roared on by the crowd - many of whom had waited a long, long time to be back - we made a flying start. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got in behind the defence a couple of times. First he sent a cross just ahead of Emile Smith Rowe in the box, then set Kieran Tierney away with a neat back flick. After a lively opening ten minutes, the game began to settle down, and there were no real chances for either side before Chelsea took the lead, out of nothing. Timo Werner set up his compatriot Kai Havertz on the break, and the midfielder slammed his shot past Bernd Leno in the Arsenal goal. We went searching the equaliser, and nearly had it moments later - Smith Rowe was unlucky to see his left footed shot from the edge of the area thump off the bottom of the post. Thomas Partey had impressed in the opening half hour, but he was forced off the pitch with an injury, to be replaced by Granit Xhaka - making his first appearance of pre-season. Chelsea hit the post themselves, through Hakim Ziyech, and committed a succession of fouls as the half ended in scrappy fashion. Ben White came on at half-time for his debut, replacing Rob Holding, and was soon in the action as Chelsea began the second half well. His first meaningful touch was a goalline block to deny Ziyech after the Moroccan had rounded Leno. At the other end Nicolas Pepe saw a shot deflected just wide while Alexandre Lacazette had a low free-kick well saved by Edouard Mendy. We were knocking on the door and soon had the equaliser - From a corner, Xhaka rose highest in the penalty box and planted his header into the net. The crowd erupted, but the joy was short lived. A few minutes later Tammy Abraham pounced on a loose Hector Bellerin pass on the edge of our area, and tucked the ball in. Arteta made a host of changes, introducing Nuno Tavares and Sambi Lokonga for their first Emirates outings. Another sub, Joe Willock thought he had equalised when his thunderous shot bounced down back off the bar, but the officials agreed it didn't cross the line. Replays suggested otherwise. White made another goalline stop late on, with Aubameyang coming close, but the afternoon ended in frustration. #arsenal #chelsea #xhaka Enjoy match highlights, training and behind the scenes to get closer to the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Vivianne Miedema, Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette, Leah Williamson, Bernd Leno, Willian, Hector Bellerin, Jordan Nobbs, Bukayo Saka, Kim Little, Gabriel Martinelli, Thomas Partey and more. HIGHLIGHTS | Arsenal vs Watford (4-1) | Nketiah, Lacazette, Tierney, Azeez
HIGHLIGHTS | Arsenal vs Watford (4-1) | Nketiah, Lacazette, Tierney, Azeez

We scored four goals in a single game for the second time this week, as we stepped up our pre-season preparations with a win over Premier League new boys Watford on Wednesday. Picking up from where we left off in Saturday's behind-closed-doors clash with Millwall, Eddie Nketiah, Alex Lacazette, Kieran Tierney and Miguel Azeez all found the back of the net as we continued to build momentum ahead of the 2021/22 campaign. It was a fast start by Mikel Arteta's side, too, who stormed into an early lead thanks to Willian's vision and the individual brilliance of Nketiah. First our Brazilian collected the ball on the turn deep inside his half and threaded a fine through ball into his team-mate's path on the left wing. Hugging the touchline, Nketiah angled his run towards the penalty area and ducked inside his man before rifling a low effort into the far corner. With the speed, accuracy and dip on the strike, there was nothing Rob Elliot could do to deny our young forward. But, undeterred, the Hornets were still keen to inflict their own sting in the tail and burst downfield in response. Imran Louza shot well wide of the target and forced Bernd Leno into a low stop, but our returning German would be beaten moments later. Under duress from Watford's high press, Mohamed Elneny was caught in possession inside our penalty area, allowing Philip Zinckernagel to level the scores from close range. Again, Arteta used the interval to freshen up his side and with the half-time introductions of Hector Bellerin, Nicolas Pepe and Alex Lacazette, we came flying out of the traps. Nketiah had the first opportunity, heading over from Bellerin's deep cross, before Pepe sliced his half-volley inches wide of the top corner. At the other end, Ashley Fletcher had a golden opportunity to put his side ahead for the first time, but he dragged his low strike well wide of Alex Runarsson's far post. And just two minutes later, the former England youth international was made to rue his misfired shot. Lacazette took a free-kick quickly to release Ainsley Maitland-Niles inside the box, and our Hale End graduate was bundled over as Watford scrambled to rediscover their defensive shape. Lacazette grabbed the ball and, after placing it down on the penalty spot, sent Daniel Bachmann the wrong way to restore our lead. And it got better just moments later. Emile Smith Rowe steamed down the right-hand side and sent a dangerous ball across the face of goal to Kieran Tierney, who set himself before smashing a half-volley into the roof of the net. Lacazette had three more chances to score from open play, firing two snap-shots wide and hitting the base of the post with the most delicate of chips, but it was Azeez who had the final say. Our 18-year-old collected a short corner on the right-hand side of Watford's penalty area, shifted the ball onto his left foot and curled a magnificent strike into the top corner to round off another productive performance for Arteta's side.
