The Red Sox sent Drew Pomeranz to the hill to face off against Luis Severino of the Yankees. The Yankees got on the board first in the 2nd inning with a Giancarlo Stanton solo homerun to left. Stanton was back at it again in the 4th, hitting another solo homerun, this time to right field. The Red Sox answered in the 5th, with an Andrew Benintendi single that scored Eduardo Nunez. The Red Sox were able to tie the game in the 7th on a Mookie Betts triple to left that scored Nunez once again. In the bottom half of the frame, the Yankees were able to regain the lead on an Aaron Judge single off of Joe Kelly that scored Neil Walker. Aroldis Chapman came in for the save in the 9th, making quick work and securing the 3-2 win. If this were a little league game, it would have been over early, as it was all Phillies today. They got on the board early, scoring 3 in the 1st. From the 4th-6th, they scored a combined 7 runs, and then added 1 more in the 8th, to make it an 11-0 game. Odubel Herrera had a big day, going 2-3 with 2 homeruns and 5 RBI. Carlos Sanatana had 4 RBI on the day as well. The Giants got off to a quick start in the bottom of the 1st, putting up 3 runs in the inning on an Evan Longoria homerun. The Giants weren't done there, scoring another run in the 3rd off a Brandon Belt double that scored Buster Posey. The Dodgers tried to crawl their way back into the game in the later innings, scoring a run in both the 6th and 7th innings. Kike Hernandez and Joc Pederson both singled to drive in the runs in those respective innings. Those were the only runs the Dodgers could get, and Hunter Strickland came in for the 9th to secure the win. On the day, Ty Blach went 6 innings giving up 2 ER while striking out 4. Kuhl had a good outing on the day, going 6 innings and giving up only 1 earned run, while striking out 4. His lone mistake was a Chris Iannetta home run in the 3rd. Freeland didn't have the greatest of days, only going 4 innings and giving up 5 earned runs. The middle of the Pirates order (Bell, Freese, and Rodriguez) had a productive day, driving in 7 of the 10 runs on the day for the Pirates. Seattle had worked up an 8-4 lead, however Oakland did not go quietly scoring 3 in the 7th, and 1 in the 8th. In the end, the lead was too big to come back from, and with another solid performance by Edwin Diaz in the 9th, the Mariners secured the series win.
