Hello and a warm welcome to our coverage of the Final of the Road Safety World Series 2022 where the defending champions and host nation India Legends will cross swords with last year's runners up Sri Lanka Legends from the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. It is a repeat of the last edition's final. It's a repeat of last season's final in which the Men in Blue came out trumps in a thriller of a contest. This is the first time that both teams are meeting this season against each other. Both teams have remained unbeaten with India having loads of abandoned games compared to the Lankans. Sri Lanka topped the group stage and beat West Indies in the semis. India finished in second place and defeated the Australians in the other semi-final. It promises to be a cracking encounter. It will be interesting to see what the captains opt for should he win the toss. This is the final and runs on the board count a lot. One more season of Road Safety World Series (RSWS) and it is yet again India Legends and Sri Lanka Legends in the finals. Then it was the Legends from India who lifted the inaugural championship. This is the second edition and it has been a fantastic season despite a few rain-spoiled matches. Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur is all set to host this enthralling grand finale. Road to the Finals (Sri Lanka Legends): Matches: 5 | Won: 4 | Lost: 0 | No Result: 1 Points: 18 | Position: First The Legends from Sri Lanka are yet to lose in the competition. They dominated each and every game they played except the one against New Zealand Legends which was swallowed by persistent rain. The table toppers defeated West Indies Legends in the second semifinal by 14 runs to get a spot in the summit clash which they rightly deserved. Road to the finals (India Legends): Matches: 5 | Won: 2 | Lost: 0 | No Result: 3 | Points: 14 | Position: Second Although the Men in Blue Legends had a forgettable season in terms of game time they had their three matches washed out due to inclement weather. While out of the two matches won one was a rain-curtailed match. But a healthy positive net run rate kept them ahead of Australia Legends in the points table but that really didn't have anything to change in the schedule of the first semifinal where these two sides met with India Legends winning it by a margin of 5 wickets. This match was played over two days as the rain had a few roles to play in this too. This is the first time these two are going head-to-head against each other this season and with both the Legends in unbelievable form this should be a contest to watch for. Can the Sachin Tendulkar-led side defend their title? Or can the Tillakaratne Dilshan-led unit take revenge for the previous season's finale loss? Only time will tell. Pitch Report: The pitch at this venue has been a batting paradise and the batters have managed to easily hit along the line of the ball. This is the first time in the history of CPL that these two teams are battling against each other. Jamaica Tallawahs have two titles to their name in their two CPL finale appearance. They wrote their names on the trophy in 2013 (inaugural season) and 2016. At the same time their counterparts made it to the summit clashes three times in 2014 2015 and 2019. But they could manage only two titles losing the finals in 2015. So this is the third final for the Table Toppers while it is the fourth final appearance for the Royals. The momentum is with the boys from Jamaica but the boys from Barbados aren't far away as they got a couple of extra days' rest. Supporters are ready and so are the players. Since they finished fourth the Rovman Powell-led side had to win both Eliminator and Qualifier-2 to reach the grand finale. While they thrashed St Lucia Kings in the Eliminator by 33 runs they also slapped down the Guyana-based franchise in the Qualifier-2 by 37 runs to seal the spot for the D-Day. But for a change cricket lovers are witnessing a long series and that too in the shortest format. And to add curiosity of the fans the seven-match T20I series has lived up to the expectations 🔥 atleast till now! Currently Pakistan are ahead in the series 3-2 and are just one win away from achieving an unassailable lead. The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is all set to host the sixth T20I between Pakistan and England. Visitors need to win this game in order to stay alive in the competition. While the Moeen Ali-led side won the first and third T20Is the Babar Azam-led unit won the other three games i.e. the second fourth and fifth matches in the series. It was all about batting in the first three matches but in the previous two matches it was the bowlers who showed their worth in the shortest format. Pakistan would be happy with the way they have played in the five matches. Haris Rauf has again shown why he is one of the lethal speedsters. The debutant in the last game Aamer Jamal also did well to hold his nerves while defending 15 in the final over. As always Pakistan have a great pace battery alongside spin bowling all-rounders like Mohammad Nawaz Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan. On the other hand England are definitely missing their regular white-ball skipper Jos Buttler. The opening has been shilly-shallying but the plus points were the consistency of Ben Duckett and Harry Brook. Dawid Malan's struggle with the spin is a long old story. The stand-in skipper Moeen Ali played exceedingly well throughout the series and was a lone hander in the previous game with an unbeaten fifty but failed to get past the victory line. England did manage to bat well in the first three games but in the last two where the pitch had some assistance to slower deliveries they struggled for timing. On the other hand the Tallawahs had a good win against St Lucia Kings in the Eliminator. On a tricky wicket the Jamaica-based franchise posted a decent enough total thanks to Shamarh Brooks and Mohammad Nabi. The Afghan all-rounder waved his magic with his off-breaks as well breaking the back of the chase.
