In a media release, BCCI stated: "The players' list includes 185 capped, 786uncapped and 20 players from Associate Nations. Those registered in the INR 2 Crore price band, the highest in the auction include the likes of the Man of the tournament in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup, Sam Curran. Joining Curran include the likes of Ben Stokes and seven other English players in the highest bracket. From Australia, all-rounder Cameron Green is amongst those named in the highest bracket, while notable exclusions from the overall list inlcude the likes of Mitchell Starc and Alex Hales who haven't registered. Amongst the Indian players registered, those with a base price of INR 1 Crore are Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav. A series that will be a great lead-up going into the World Cups! India and South Africa are two giants of the game of cricket. India is a powerhouse especially in their own backyard. On the other hand South Africa are in a transition phase but make no mistake they are a side full of talented players. The last time these two sides met in India earlier this year we witnessed a historic series which ended 2-2. As stated earlier the Proteas are no pushovers and this series certainly provides a perfect opportunity for India to test their playing XI against a quality side. Even the great England white-ball side failed against this South African team a few months earlier. Let's be honest India have a lot of chinks in their armour to deal with. The batting lineup is relatively sorted but the bowling has surely given nightmares to skipper Rohit Sharma. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has blown cold in the last few games. Bumrah has just returned from injury and is looking like a pale shadow of himself. Arshdeep is a bright spot but even he's inexperienced. The bowling needs a bit of tweak if India are to seal the series. South Africa boasts a strong bowling unit that will test this great Indian batting lineup. The likes of Rabada Parnell and Shamsi are world class bowlers and the Indian team can't take them lightly. The T20I series is about to start so who will come out on top? What to expect: Only two T20Is have been played at this venue and only one of them a full 20-overs-a-side affair in 2019. There's no threat of rain for Wednesday with cloudy skies and temperatures in the late 20s. Team News India Injuries/Availability: Mohammed Shami hasn't travelled for the first T20I and is still out after recently missing the Australia series due to covid. Deepak Hooda too is not ready due to a back injury. India will be without Bhuvneshwar and Hardik Pandya in this series who will undergo conditioning-related training at the NCA in Bengaluru in the lead-up to next month's World Cup. Tactics & Matchups: With Hardik not available these three games offer Pant the chance to prove he has more to offer to this Indian side than just his left-handedness as the team has shown a tendency to prefer Dinesh Karthik over him in recent games. Yuzvendra Chahal who has had the wood over the left-handed Quinton de Kock in T20s will also look for an upturn in form following ordinary outings against Australia. Tactics & Matchups: Wayne Parnell who picked a five-wicket haul in his last T20I in August could trouble India's right-hander dominated top-order who've all had issues against left-arm pace. On the batting front South Africa will hope Quinton de Kock and David Miller can take the lead in blunting India's in-form spinner Axar Patel owing to their match-up superiority.
