The Birth of the FIFA World Cup / Uruguay 1930 Documentary
The first FIFA World Cup was held in Uruguay in 1930, marking the beginning of the greatest football tournament in history. The competition brought together 13 national teems during a time when traveling across continents was a true adventure, especially for the European teams that crossed the ocean by ship to participate in this historic event. The grand final was played between Uruguay and Argentina at the legendary Estadio Centenario in front of thousands of passionate fans. Argentina started strongly and event took the lead, but Uruguay responded with courage and attacking football that electrified the stadium. In the end, the Uruguayans completed a remarkable comeback and defeated Argentina 4-2, becoming the first world champions in football history. The victory sparked unforgettable celebrations throughout Montevideo and confirmed Uruguay as a global football powerhouse after already winning Olympic gold medals in 1924 and 1928. The 1930 World Cup not only crowned the first champion, but also gave birth to a tradition that would unite millions of people around the world through the passion of football.
