Mientras los pilotos brillaban ante unas condiciones adversas en el circuito de Suzuka, la FIA volvía a cubrirse de gloria. Otro hat-trick de la federación: poniendo en riesgo la vida de los pilotos al lanzar de forma imprudente una grúa a la pista, causando dudas entre todos los equipos por el procedimiento de la última vuelta y, más tarde, coronando a Max Verstappen como campeón del mundo ante la incredulidad de todo el mundo incluyendo al propio neerlandés. Un bochorno. Verstappen merecía el Mundial, pero no de esta manera. Merecía una buena celebración. Merecía disfrutar ante el público de Honda. Y lo que vimos fue algo que evidenció una vez más las absurdeces que uno se puede encontrar en el reglamento deportivo. Fue legal, sí, pero surrealista. Por lo demás, Checo Pérez logró desestabilizar a un Charles Leclerc que falló en la última vuelta del Gran Premio y que terminó derivando en una sanción de 5 segundos que, sin él saberlo, le iba a dar el Mundial a Super Max.
