Follow Thijs, one of our journalists, as he continues his journey to become a professional footballer in just one year, in the eighth episode of GOING PRO. βΆοΈ Our last episode brought devastating news for Thijs: a serious injury sidelines him from the game he loves. π After a consultation by none other than Lieven Maesschalk, the physiotherapist of Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, the advice is clear: a PRP injection in both knees. Executed by Red Devilsβ doctor Kristof Sas! At Move To Cure, Thijs is rehabilitating with βcolleaguesβ Zinho Vanheusden, Yannick Carrasco and Ignace Van Der Brempt. He is closely monitored and soon feels progress, but encounters himself on the beach of Sint-Anneke. π₯΅β±οΈ Four weeks after the first injection, Thijs rejoins Jong KV Mechelen taking his first steps back onto the pitch. It's the perfect time to discover what level Thijs is at with physical tests at the U23 of KV Mechelen. We find out Thijs is really fast and is a better bowler than footballer... For now. π³π« To gain match fitness, we're going to Beerschot for Thijs' first 11v11. Afterwards, it's time for some well deserved rest during the winter break.
