One of F1âs most popular and longest-serving team bosses, Guenther Steiner, has left his role in charge of Haas. Itâs a shock move that poses serious questions about the teamâs prospects and future. Itâs almost unthinkable to imagine Haas without Steiner, as while the team bears the name of its owner Gene Haas, this was really Steiner F1 in all but name. Steiner was the man who made F1âs strangest team set-up possible and became an unexpected star of the Netflix Drive to Survive series. Steinerâs departure, with former director of engineering Ayao Komatsu taking over as team principal, has surprised almost everybody in F1. BUT there has been discontent bubbling away for some time now, and the situation had been coming to a head behind the scenes. Now, Steinerâs gone, and technical director Simone Resta is understood to be out as well. There were frustrations with the way that Haas was run from the very top, and that means eponymous team owner Gene Haas, who has seemingly become apathetic towards his own F1 team and refused to invest in it. Steiner and Haas disagreed on the teamâs potential in its current form. While Steiner felt Haas needed steady investment over the next few years, as it had outgrown its unique multi-location, Ferrari-dependent model, Gene Haas believes the team has underachieved and does not need more resources or improved facilities to perform better. After months of speculation, itâs finally been confirmed: Mick Schumacher will not race for Haas in 2023, with Nico Hulkenberg making a full-time return to Formula 1 in his place. Itâs a decision thatâs been a long time coming given Hulkeberg was first linked to the seat in early September. Eponymous team owner Gene Haas and Guenther Steiner gave Schumacher every chance to prove himself, but ultimately decided not to keep him both for on and off-track reasons. The second Haas seat alongside Kevin Magnussen was the last vacancy on the 2023 grid, meaning the full line-up for next season is in place. #F1news #Haas #MickSchumacher 00:00 Schumacher out, Hulkenberg in 00:54 Why Schumacher was dropped 03:04 Did Mick deserve another chance? 06:02 Why Hulkenberg? Haas couldnât have hoped for a more dramatic turnaround of its Formula 1 fortunes under the new regulations in 2022. After scoring just three points in the previous two campaigns, it has already racked up four times that in first two races thanks to back-to-back top 10 finishes for Kevin Magnussen in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Thatâs put it fifth in the constructorsâ championship with more points than it has scored in the preceding 49 races. So how did Haas achieve this remarkable reversal of fortunes, and can F1âs smallest team really be expected to sustain this form for the rest of the season? #F1 #Haas Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
Kevin Magnussen looked to be firmly in the camp of âexiled F1 driverâ after he lost his drive at the end of 2020 because Haas needed paying drivers. But with Nikita Mazepin axed between the 2022 pre-season tests, Haas needed a replacement. And it has turned to the same driver it had to move aside for the Russian just over a year ago. In this video we look at how the deal happened, why it makes sense, and what it means for Mick Schumacher #KevinMagnussen #Haas #F12022 READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/life-after-f1-was-really-fun-for-magnussen-but-hes-back/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace

The Haas Formula 1 team has named a temporary substitute for ousted driver Nikita Mazepin but the fallout from that split is only just getting started. Haas has terminated its contracts with Russian driver Mazepin and former title sponsor Uralkali in the wake of Russian president Vladimir Putinâs war on Ukraine. Reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi will take part in the final pre-season test in Bahrain this week, but the team still needs to decide who will take the seat for the rest of the 2022 season. And beyond sorting out its driver line-up, Haas is facing an unsurprising legal challenge from Uralkali and coming under fire from Mazepin himself. #F1 #Haas #NikitaMazepin READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/mazepin-claims-no-warning-of-f1-axe-before-haas-announcement/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
The Haas team could need a new driver and sponsor as the consequences of Russiaâs invasion of Ukraine spill over into the world of Formula 1. A military attack on Ukraine ordered by Russiaâs president Vladimir Putin began on Thursday after a long period of escalating tensions. Within 24 hours it was agreed that Septemberâs planned Russian GP couldnât go ahead, while Haas was plunged into a difficult situation to resolve with its Russian title sponsor Uralkali and driver Nikita Mazepin. #F1 #NikitaMazepin #Haas READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/who-should-haas-hire-if-it-has-to-replace-mazepin/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
