The Hapalua Hawaii's half marathon's race within a race where Kenyan pro's Chase Team Hawaii (Hawaii's best runners) through the streets of Waikiki. Team Hawaii is given a series of head starts, and the Kenyans start last. Ryan was given a 12 minute handicap. Ryan Tsang was the last (and youngest on the team, 20) to get caught. This earned Ryan second place behind Phillip Tarbie. Tarbie set a new course record, the fastest half marathon ever run in the state 1:03:26. Ryan ran a personal best, his first half in 1:16:05.
