Lethbridge Hurricanes 2011 Teddy Bear Toss (official video)

Lethbridge, AB -- Lethbridge Hurricanes Forward Graham Hood will have bragging rights for the next year as his powerplay goal just 45 seconds into the 2nd period unleashed hundreds of teddy bears onto the ENMAX Centre ice Saturday night. Apparently this could turn into an extreme sport... check out Canes forward Phl Tot trip over a teddy bear at about 00:26 :) The Teddy Bear Toss is a very popular Christmas season promotion celebrated by many hockey teams throughout North America. Fans are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal to the game and throw them on the ice when the home team scores its first goal. This year dozens of volunteers helped gather the 2,928 bears that were collected and they'll be distributed to the Interfaith Food Bank, Piikani Youth Centre, RCMP Victim Services Unit, the Salvation Army, Streets Alive, and 1st Choice Savings and Credit Union on behalf of Lethbridge Family Services Angel Tree for Kids. On Monday, January 9th, 2012 the Lethbridge Hurricanes players will also deliver some of the bears to the Pediatrics Ward at Chinook Regional Hospital.
