Max Verstappen's Journey To Becoming a Three-Time F1 Champion
2021, 2022 and now 2023! What a three years in Formula 1 it has been Max Verstappen. Winning his first-ever F1 title in dramatic fashion in Abu Dhabi, to dominating the last two seasons in the RB18 and the all-conquering RB19. 2022 Italian Grand Prix: F1 race analysis
Sections of the crowd at Monza actually booed Max Verstappen after he had won the 2002 Italian Grand Prix. Partly that was because they had wanted to see a race to the flag (the GP actually finished behind a Safety Car) but mainly it was because they had wanted to see a Ferrari victory. In this video Peter Windsor addresses this issue of concern - and also offers his explanation as to why Max and the Red Bull RB18 were again so dominant - why they were not sucked-in by Charles Leclerc's relatively early switch to medium tyres and would thereafter control the race with a significant tyre-life (and overall pace) advantage. He started P13, passed five cars on his opening lap - and was up to P3, chasing down his Red Bull team-mate, Sergio Perez, after only four racing laps of Spa. And then he won it. With ease. Jos Verstappen's outburst and Sergio Perez's new contract give Red Bull a problem
For the first time in many years, Red Bull has two Formula 1 drivers in competition. It’s a scenario the team had almost certainly not planned for, and there are already signs of it causing problems. Sergio Perez’s victory in the Monaco Grand Prix came on the weekend he was genuinely faster than team-mate Max Verstappen for the first time.
