Las Águilas del América vencieron a Santos Laguna, con marcador de 2-1, en su compromiso de la Jornada 1 de la LIGA BBVA MX Femenil. América, con una nueva etapa al mando de Craig Harrington, recibían su primer partido del Apertura 2021 en el Estadio Azteca. Enfrente se encontraba Santos Laguna, que buscaba sumar sus primeras unidades del semestre en patio ajeno. Las de Coapa controlaron el esférico y fueron mejores en el primer lapso, sin embargo, una genialidad de Anahí Rentería abrió la cuenta para las visitantes.
