Chinaman is not a bowling style, rather it was a 'slang' which later became a style of bowling and got included in the cricket dictionary. Chinaman means - a person from China. There is no special future of China in cricket, but it is interesting that the first Chinaman bowler of cricket (Elice Achong) was of Chinese origin. Hello and a warm welcome to our coverage of the third day's play of the First Test Match of this 2-Test match series featuring the hosts Bangladesh against the visitors India from the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Day 3 is the moving day in the Test Match. India are firmly in control and will want to wrap up the remaining two wickets as quickly as possible. Bangladesh will want to show some fight and get as close to the score as India. Their aim will be to officially avoid the follow-on. One does not see India enforcing the follow-on even if they get the opportunity. All in all an intriguing third-day's play awaits us all. Starting the day at 278/6 India lost Shreyas Iyer for 86 off 192 balls. He could add only 4 runs to his overnight score and fell to Ebadot Hossain with the score reading 293/7. But then Ravichandran Ashwin stood up for India with the bat and he was ably supported by Kuldeep Yadav. The duo put on 92 runs for the 8th wicket with Ashwin registering his 13th Test fifty as he scored 58 off 113 balls. Kuldeep Yadav scored his highest Test score as he made 40 off 114 balls. Umesh Yadav's 15* off 10 balls and Mohammad Siraj's 4 off 3 alongside 8 extras given by the Bangladesh bowlers propelled India to a healthy score of 404 runs in 133.5 overs. Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were the picks of the bowlers for Bangladesh. They both picked up 4 wickets apiece. Taijul delivered 46 overs while Mehidy delivered 31.5 overs. A wicket apiece for the two fast bowlers Ebadot Hossain and Khaled Ahmed. Shakib bowled less number of overs as he is carrying a rib injury. Bangladesh got off to the worst possible start as they lost Nazmul Hossain Shanto off the first ball of the innings to Mohammad Siraj for a golden duck. Yasir Ali scored contributed 4 runs as well. The debutant Zakir Hasan looked assured out there for a while as he contributed 20 off 45 balls. Litton Das scored a good-looking 24 off 30 balls. Mushfiqur Rahim is the current top scorer with 28 off 58 balls. Nurul Hasan chipped in with a quick 16 off 22 balls. Mehidy Hasan Miraz is still there unbeaten on 16* off 35 balls and giving him company is Ebadot Hossain who is on 13* off 27 balls. Mohammad Siraj was the initial destroyer for India as he picked up the Bangladeshi top-order batters. He has exceptional figures of 3/14 in 9 overs. Umesh Yadav has a wicket to his name. But the pick of the Indian bowlers has been the left-arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav as he has exceptional figures of 4/33 in 10 overs. He will be eyeing a fifer this morning. No wickets yet for Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel. Day 2 Overview That's it for the day. Stumps day 2 and India is in the driver's seat. 6 wickets fell in this last session and when India expected to bundle the opposition out today only Ebadot Hossain and Mehidy Hasan Miraz put up a partnership of 31 runs and put the gates down. Earlier at the beginning of the day India resumed their innings as Ravichandran Ashwin joined the overnight batter Shreyas Iyer (he was batting at 82). India lost Iyer but after that Kuldeep Yadav (40 off 114) and Ravichandran Ashwin (58 of 113) stitched a partnership of 92 runs and ensured that India went past the 400 mark. India ultimately finished at 404 and Bangladesh came out with their reply. But the Indian bowlers stifled the hosts from the very beginning. Mohammed Siraj (3 for 14) and Kuldeep Yadav (4 for 33) ensured that the pressure was always on the hosts. Bangladesh kept losing wickets and at the end of Day 2 they are struggling at 133 for 8. The record that was held by the great Sachin Tendulkar was broken by Virat Kohli the previous game and what an achievement for one of the best batsmen in the world. The Australians did not get to many loose deliveries as the Indians had bowled the previous couple of games, the bowlers were on mark and India would be glad to see that jasprit Bumrah has found some form in the previous match. The debutant Natarajan showed that he has the skills to take part in this level of the sport and his 1st wicket of Marcus Labuschagne announced his arrival in white ball cricket. Though the most impressive of the bowling lot was Jasprit bumrah the man who showed he has the talent was none other than the chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav. Personally, he was one of the bowlers who stood out and his line and speed control was a joy to watch. The narrow victory for the Indians would give them confidence when they take on Australia tomorrow for the t20 international.
